Ariens SB 6190 dropping

Multiple times a day for the last week my Ariens SB 6190 is dropping out and losing access, saying off-line. This is affecting the Internet in my house along with my cable. I’ve done multiple resets. Still not fixing the issue. I ran the Xfinity assistant, which says everything is OK on their end. Is this a sign that my modem is going bad? Or is this a sign of another issue?

@Ktl5005 Hi! I took a look at your signal and the upstream transmit is too high. We will have to send out a technician to resolve it. The FEC numbers look good today and were out of spec the last week. Send a direct message with your name and address.

Make sure you are signed in to forums

1. In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon(direct message) near the bell icon.

2. Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

3. In the 'To' line, type "Xfinity Support" there. A drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list (an "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line)

4. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

5. Press Enter to send it. An official employee, such as myself or whoever is first available, will respond. Thanks!

I no longer work for Comcast.

I am an Official Xfinity Employee.

@Ktl5005

Some self-troubleshooting stuff that you can try first;

In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.

Also check the coax cable for any damage such as cuts, nicks, abrasions, kinks, sharp bends, etc.

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two-way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street / pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct as was stated.

Good luck with it !
