6ghz - won't turn off permanently - causing connection issues with many devices

Hi,

Is there a way to permanently disabled 6ghz?

I have several devices (PC laptop and iMac) that automatically choose 6ghz - but have really poor connection which causes major problems when working.

If I disable 6ghz in the admin portal - then forget the network and rejoin the wifi on these devices - everything is fine and full strong connection. I also have 2 pods in the house.

This is a major issue as my wife really struggles with technology and when she is working can't afford for the router to turn 6ghz back on!....why is it doing this if I have disabled it?

Any help would be appreciated?

I tried to change the SSID name to separate 6ghz from 2.4 and 5ghz however you can't as it is greyed out

So frustrating

user_keicjl Thank you so much for reaching out for help with your Wi-Fi 6 GHz signal. The 6 GHz is managed automatically by the Xb8 gateway. To remove the 6 GHz option, you could downgrade the modem to one of our older models that do not have the option. Our Xb7 and Xb6 may work depending on your speed for your needs, so you would not have to manage where the devices are connecting.

@XfinityAmandaB Hi, My router was upgraded by yourselves due to constant disconnection of the tv signal and internet and due to it being 3 years old. Why have an option to disable if it constantly turns on? Can you send me a NEW XB7 router please

@user_keicjl If you would like to swap out the equipment, you can visit a local service center to swap the equipment for free as shipping one to you may have a shipping fee. If you are needing any assistance in locating a service center you can follow this link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/service-center-locations/ to locate one near you! Would you visit a local store? If yes when so that we can follow up to confirm the swap went well.
