2.4GHz device connection

I have a camera that only works on a 2.4GHz WiFi signal.  My XB8 router is set up to connect devices to the fastest signal (5GHz or 6 GHz).  This prevents my camera from connecting.  There is no manual settings in the Xfinity app to do this and trying to log in directly to the Xfinity router is blocked by a use the app message. How can I split the signals on an XB8 to allow this camera to connect directly to the 2.4GHz signal?

Hi user_35opcq, thanks for reaching out through the community forums! I have a few devices in my home that are just as finicky and don't seem to work without a dedicated 2.4 GHz signal. The Xfinity App should allow you to rename the individual bands for your WiFi network by following these steps:

1. Open the Xfinity app on your smartphone or tablet and sign in using your Primary, Manager, or Member Xfinity ID and password.

2. Tap the WiFi icon in the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen.

3. Select WiFi details.

4. Tap Edit WiFi settings at the bottom of the screen.
5. Toggle the Split bands option

6. Enter your new desired network name in the WiFi name field for each band (I recommend only renaming the 2.4 GHz WiFi so you don't have to reconnect devices in your home that don't require a 2.4 GHz connection).

7. Tap Save to apply the changes

Please let us know if that helps!

In the app I am logged in as the Primary but I do not have the Split band toggle on the page.  I only have the Broadcast the WiFi name toggle.

There are two possibilities here, you may need to scroll down further, or you have xFi pods in your setup.

If you have xFi pods in your setup you will need to use a workaround to access the split band feature.  xFi pods require the SSID for 2.4 and 5ghz to have the same name and password.

You would need to temporarily disable the xFi Pods in the Xfinity app.  Once you do the split band feature will become accessible.

Once you have split the bands, you can connect your device to the 2.4, then once connected, reactivate your xFi Pods.

I had an xFi pod that I no longer use.  I saw that it was listed as not connected in the app.  So I deleted it and re logged into it the app.  I can now see the Split band toggle.  Thank you for your help.
