200 MBS Upload Speed

I had a tech out, and he was, with his "magic box" able to get 2100 MBS down, and 400 MBS up from my S33 modem. I am taking this signal with a Cat 6 cable to a TP-Link | BE9300 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router. I am hooking up to a 2.5 MBS port on the router to my PC, directly with ethernet. My D/L is still 900 MBS, and my upload is still 40MBS. While it is possible that the 900 MBS is limited by the ethernet port on my PC, the 40 MBS up should not be.

The S33 is not approved for the new higher upload speeds. See:

Realize that although Comcast calls some devices "Approved" and some "Recommended", for all but a few devices those designations only mean "approved/recommended for use with their Internet service", and not necessarily approved for the new upload speeds.

You need one of Comcast's newer rental gateways (XB6, XB7, XB8) or one of the few retail devices shown in the "Next Gen Speed Tier" group with an upload speed rating in the "All Compatible Devices" PDF.  Also see the Reddit link, which lists the approved devices as well as other requirements for faster upload speeds. Comcast could make all of this much clearer, but they have chosen not to do so.

@BruceW Thanks.  This was helpful, and not generic.  I'm trying to get away from the xfinity modems and routers, not so much because of the monthly cost, but because they then "control" them.  This is no tech service available any more, unless you consider the script readers that you get on the phone now or at the end of the CHAT, as being capable of answering the easiest questions.  If you take them off script, you MUST be funneled back on.  Truly a shame.  Again, thanks @BruceW

@HoustonREF Hello and thank you for creating this public post on our Xfinity Community Forum. To improve your upload speed, consider the following steps:

  1. Upgrade Your Equipment: Ensure your computer has at least a dual-core CPU with 2.5 and 5 gigahertz, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a solid-state hard drive.
  2. Update Your Browser: Use the latest version of browsers like Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
  3. Optimize Your Connection:
    • For wired connections, use a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable.
    • For wireless connections, place your Wireless Gateway in a central location of your home, away from thick surfaces and crowded areas.

These steps can help enhance your upload speed and overall internet performance. Please let us know if you continue to have issues uploading once you complete the updates.

Unfortunately, this was generic.  Please read my complete problem description.  This does not apply.

None of these suggestions will help unless the OP has a modem or gateway that is approved for the higher upload speeds, as stated above.

@BruceW .  I've been thinking about this, and wondering why the xfinity tech has a box, which when hooked to my modem, gave 2100 and 400...  Seems like "only approved gateway" to me.  Yes?

Also, is there an xfinity link so that I can enter the MAC of a new modem to get it bumped onto the system?  And not have to do a script - ture...?

OK.  I've replaced the S33 modem with a CODA56.  Well, now I have gone from 900 down, 40 up to 350 down, and 25 up.  The xfinity app wants to send a tech, again.  Honestly, the correct answer must be to get the modem and gateway from xfinity, and pay the 100 installation.  Or, find a new provider.  I've been a customer of Xfinity for a long time.  Xfinity, this is just disgraceful.  Just disgraceful.

@HoustonREF Thank you for the update. Since you are seeing a drop in both Download and Upload speeds, can you take a look at your connections? We want to make sure there aren't any splitters with unused ports and that all of your connections are finger-tight. Also, can you post your signal levels here so that we can make sure those look good?
