20+ unknown devices connected through MoCA

I have the X6 gateway and live in an apartment. Multiple unknown devices stay connected even after i pause or forget them slowing down my connection. Speed tests show good results, but getting web browsing pages, as well as cell phone apps to load takes over 5 min sometimes. Probably due to how many devices are connected? I have tried all the ways of turning MoCA off in the gateway settings but it auto switches back on. I have called xfinity multiple times and they dont seem to know what MoCA is, but it is a main feature on the xfinity devices. After one of many factory resets, I go to login on the gateway admin address, through ethernet connected to my gateway, and I ended up logging onto my neighbors gateway showing me their password. This is a huge security flaw that I dont even know how Xfinity has not addressed. I have seen posts of people eventually getting a tech out to their house, installing a MoCA filter, and problem solved. But the three people I talked to on the phone told me my only solution is upgrading to Xfi complete, which is totally rediculous. Xfinity should give their representatives more knowledge and resources. They said there is no way they can send a tech out to my house. I am at a point that I am very bothered by xfinity internet.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and being part of the Comcast family. I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time trying to get this resolved. A MoCA filter would correct this for sure. Although, these are usually installed during installation as it's mandatory. There is also a chance that you already have one but it's not installed correctly. I'd be happy to check the account to see what your MoCA network is looking like. At the very least kick every device off the network, then you can change the WiFi Network password. In order to get started can you please send me a private message to Xfinity Support with your full name and full address by clicking the chat icon in the top right?

I too am experiencing the same problem. Fortunately I’m able to pause these devices but it’s an ongoing issue and a bit annoying receiving  constant notifications of devices being connected and having to pause them. MoCA is how these freeloaders are connecting. I too live in an apartment. The outside terminal or what ever it’s called, is located right outside a window of downstairs neighbor’s unit to which they feel inclined to remove the cover and modify cables and what not. Numerous times I’ve requested t tech to come out and secure their OUTDOOR equipment. It’s like pulling teeth. So now I’ve noticed the bottom of the terminal is broken where it meets the ground and cables and wires are now running from the hole directly into neighbor’s unit…. And their service provider is AT&T (separate terminal. It’s ridiculously how I’m paying $100 a month to supply internet to half the block. I’ve opted out of “sharing xfinitywifi hotspot, disabled it on all platforms /apps etc but it’s still active. My personal pc (Ethernet) also will act as a access point on behalf of Xfinity as well even after I’ve configured it not to but it keeps auto reconfiguring. Also I have  another router on my network UpNP port forwarding and resetting router is only a temp fix by the end of the day all settings reconfigure back to sharing my private network with the world . Xfinity needs to be held accountable for that    There is no such thing as disabling they use customers in every aspect expand their signals and line their pockets. The only other option is to purchase my own router hopefully that will cut out all the feed 1 feed 2  and many other multiple access points they are triggering my devices to provide for everyone. The other night my gateway reset to which I was unable to join my own network upon reboot. When I finally was able to access my own private network I notice my Xfinity iPhone and gateway had the same IP address. So my phone was acting as a public access point as well .. shame on you Xfinity

Just for clarification, the 2nd router is NOT my device. My gateway merely doles out  it’s access point (UPnP/port forwarding layers 1-3) supplying service to a whole other household/s unknown  gadgets and gizmos a- plenty, whozits and whatzits galore.
”Come one

Ye connect!

‘Tis Free !

Come one !

Connect ye

Connect All!

”Alle Alle Auch Sind Frei”

Even in Admin UPnP displays as  “Disabled” port forwarding as well.

However, Fing app (mobile and Desktop ) and WIN command prompt arp, netstat, and ipconfig info says/shows otherwise. Xfinity customer options to “Disable” are bogus. Those on/off enable/disable buttons should be clearly labeled

for “entertainment purposes only”

Along with a disclaimer that should read…….

”Although We, Xfinity allow customers to set preferences on their home network

however any/all options,Disabling features/configuration/customer preferences that may prohibit Xfinity equipment

(and or personal devices as access points ) from mass broadcasting,

(Please note, by doing so

may or may not put your (the customer) network privacy, data, devices, heath/safety at risk )

With ( xfinity) deter, interfere with, disrupt our strategic, underhanded long-standing  business practices and procedures of customer Exploitations, such settings are can not be changed. Regardless if configuration/ network state/ setting show as “Disabled “  and you(customer) have a legal right to choose to opt out .

You as consumers have LEGAL rights set forth to protect.  Your ( Customer) Legal rights = as to Xfinity only offering the visible “on paper “ disable tabs, but does NOT actually operate/ work etc . It’s just there because it’s supposed to be, but does nothing. Xfinity

evades FCCs heavily flawed, under enforced laws and regulations, we are not responsible. Our exploitative actions : manipulation of connectivity, using/freeloading off customer’s paid services to expand wifi coverage. Usage of customers paid utilities/electricity. Exposing to security issues and equipment vulnerability. Xfinity charges customers to be exploited= over priced services, charges for equipment rental= we pay Xfinity expand their signal regardless if we opt out, all while charged to rent their discontinued gateways (mine is has been discontinued x2 yrs ) to which is powered by electricity I pay for..and it’s been confirmed hotspots /multi connections, causes gateway to consume more power… I’ve got over a years worth of documentation/records/screenshots of my network connectivity

Issues, network configurations etc how Xfinity improperly manages my service.. issuing corrupt IPs flagged for abusive are are not valid. I also discovered how they use alternate public/free servers and domains link layers etc. Billion dollar company Freeloading all around..Greed greed and more greed

@user_2cc48b man I feel your frustration!!!! After endless calls to xfinity, they would not do one thing to help. They refused to send a tech out to check line integrity, and the only [Edited: "Language"] solution they offered me was to get the xfi complete or whatever... what solved my problem 100% was going out and buying my own router (the asus AX-5700), and switching the xfinity router to gateway mode to act as a modem. I have not had any problems after this and my download speeds are actually around 100mb faster than what I pay for!!<3 good luck!!<3
