Xfinity Stream on Firestick/firetv
A week or so ago we started seeing the ‘failure to upgrade please exit and restart’. Only on the stream app while using a firestick. We have tried:
uninstall8ng the Stream App
resetting the stick to factory settings and reinstalling the app
At that point we thought our sticks were just too old for the app and we replaced the tv with a new fire tv. Only to have it still happening. I came here for solutions and found it’s not our tv but a big issue with the app. It’s frustrating because sometimes when I exit and restart stream it works. Others it gets stuck on the 3 flashing dots.
we can stream on our iPads fine

On the other thread, it said to start ‘your own’ to get detailed answers, yet the comments on the original thread continue and mine remains ignored

@painterfam Hi there! Thanks for sharing what you’ve already tried. We can definitely understand how frustrating that would be, especially after replacing the device and still running into the same “failure to upgrade” message.
Since Xfinity Stream is working normally on your iPads, that does point more toward the Stream app on Fire TV/Firestick rather than an account-wide issue. You’ve already done the right steps by uninstalling, reinstalling, and even factory resetting the device, so we do not want to keep sending you in circles.
A few things that may help while we take a closer look are making sure the Fire TV software is fully updated, clearing the Stream app cache and data, then restarting the Fire TV before opening Stream again. If it still gets stuck on the flashing dots after that, please let us know the Fire TV model, the Fire OS version, and the Xfinity Stream app version showing on the device. That will help us narrow this down and make sure the right details are reviewed.
