Stream for Fire TV not ready for prime time?

We suffered the beta tagged version of this app for a long time and welcomed the beta going away. It was nearly acceptable for a while but now is back to its old tricks (currently v6.19.2.001).

  • Very long load times, every time you click anything. (1G fiber, about one meter from the Wi-Fi.) Yeah, we can suffer with this part.
  • Pauses during playback, audio and video out of sync, UI gets lost and requires restart. These are becoming intolerable.

The web version is good, the iOS/iPadOS versions are solid, and I’ve heard that Roku does well. Is amateur hour building the app for fire stick? If is the fire stick just [Edited: "Language"] hardware? (But other apps seem to manage well.)

Or do we drop Xfinity altogether and use those other [reliable] streaming apps?

Sorry about my adjective—I really thought it would have been okay.

Hello @stvn78. We appreciate you posting to the Xfinity Community Forum to share your experience with the Stream App on your Fire TV. I can understand why this would be intolerable. Based on the symptoms you've mentioned, I would like to review your account, check your signals, and do some other troubleshooting to see if I can find a cause for the issues you've reported and find a fix. Also, here are the links so you can review our Xfinity Forum Acceptable Use Policy and Xfinity Forum Guidelines to better understand what's acceptable and what isn't on the forum. I hope this helps.

An update. The troubled fire stick is a "Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen)" running Fire OS 5.2.9.2. I decided to load the app on my other stick, a "Fire TV Stick 4K" running Fire OS 6.2.9.3. I had not done that before since that location has my actual DVR attached. It runs fine. I moved the troubled stick to that TV and the troubles follow it. It appears that the older stick (purchased 8/2/19) and/or it's version of Fire OS (it won't update further) has a compatibility issue. Can that be confirmed? The description at Amazon lists a minimum OS of Android 5.0--does that map to the Fire OS version? I don't see a list of compatible hardware. I should note that other apps work fine with this stick.

If you think checking things further would still be useful, let me know and I'll DM.

Near as I can tell, my slightly older stick should work. (And other than terrible performance, it mostly does.) I may pursue with Amazon if my curiosity gets the best of me, but since moving the troubled stick to the set that has the actual DVR, I really don't need the app on that stick.

Thanks for the help. (I can't find a way to mark and accepted answer.)
