Stream App vs TV Remote App - 2 Quick Questions?
I have a Premiere Pro Triple Play which includes Cloud DVR and 1 Gig HSI. Recently also started using the Xfinity Stream App (from the Amazon App Store) on a Fire HD 8 (2018) Tablet over the last 2 months w/o any issues via home wifi. I can watch HD programming live plus 'schedule/record/watch/or download recordings & return' Cloud DVR programming w/o any issues on that new Amazon Tablet.
Questions: Does the 'separate' Xfinity TV Remote App require a Mobile Device to have a built-in IR Transmitter (which my Fire Tablet lacks) to be supported by the TV Remote App? If so, might this explain why there is no official Xfinity TV Remote App available at the Amazon App Store?
Note that I can presently use my Windows desktop PC with Firefox (thru the Xfinity Stream Portal) to schedule and record programming on the Cloud DVR, just like with the Fire Tablet. However, there seems to be no way to currently communticate with my legacy DCX3400M DVR thru the PC Portal like we could several years ago .... nor thru the new Fire Tablet.
Any expert clarifications here would be much appreciated ... Thanks.

the xfinity tv remote app uses internet to communicate with Xfinity server that gives the instructions to the set top box. the phone does not use IR to communicate with the set top box.

Thanks for the info @Rustyben and also to @RobertWy for the help links. If I may take the liberty to further clarify as to why I'm inquiring about the Xfinity TV Remote App not currently offered by Xfinity in the Amazon App Store for Fire/Kindle Tablets :
1. The only App Xfinity offers at Amazon's App Store is the Stream App which is working fine for me on a new Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet.
2. That being said, the the Xfinity TV Remote App is only found at the Google Play App Store and the Apple's App Store. An Amazon Fire/Kindle Tablet device can not legally be used an Xfinity App from those two other App Stores. The TV Remote App has to come from the Amazon App Store to be used legally.
Which begs the question as to why Comcast/Xfinity has not provided a TV Remote App for download from the Amazon App Store for use on Fire/Kinde Tablets?
That is the real question .... Maybe a Comcast employee can further clarify the situation?

You are correct @Rustyben .... However, Amazon Tablet's (Fire Tablets and Kindles) use a slightly Modified Android System and most, if not all, Android Apps direct from the Google Play Store will not install on Amazon Tablets or Kindles. The Google App Store is effectively closed by design to Amazon Tablets and Kindles. To get around that issue legally, Xfinity (and others) often release separate Amazon Android Apps for download from the Amazon App Store for Amazon Tablet users like myself. Xfinity has already done this with its Stream App which works great, thus my question boils down to why not also a TV Remote App for download from Amazon's App Store for the millions of Amazon Tablet and Kindle users who already (or plan to) subcribe to Comcast?
I really appreciate your time so far on this and truly hope this issue can be elevated to hear back from a Comcast Employee about why there is no Xfinity TV Remote App at the Amazon App Store for Amazon Tablets and Kindles?
