No sound/audio with Xfinity streaming video

My Xfinity streaming TV video has no audio. The picture is fine and navigation is fine. My laptop audio does work because I've gone on to YouTube and Vimeo and the sound on those videos are fine. When I stream Xfinity TV from my Fire Table and iPhone 7 it also works fine. But for some reason while I do have audio with my laptop it's just not working for the Xfinity streaming.

Addendum:

Also I turned off Bluetooth and it's still not working. Curiously I paired Bluetooth with my Air Pods and I still didn't get audio with Xfinity streaming but I did hear YouTube videos.

did you go into the set top box settings for audio and see what is set up there?

I do not get audio on all TV channels while streaming Xfinity on my table top computer using Edge. Comcast advance repair has not been able to fix the problem on the phone. Promises to call me back have not been kept.

I have a strangely specific issue with audio when streaming.   For both live TV and DVR recordings, I have no audio for anything on NBC -- and *only* NBC as far as I've seen.   Other channels work fine.   This even affects old recordings of NBC shows that I still have on my DVR from months ago, which predate when the problem started happening in the last couple of weeks.  And NBC (both live and recorded) works fine when watching on an actual TV with cable box -- it's only an issue with streaming on my computer.   And -- I don't see the chat icon that ComcastGabe refers to above on my screen, so I can't follow his suggestion, alas.

Hello, @user_33f19f. Thank you for posting your situation regarding the issues while streaming NBC. I'm glad to hear you don't see this on the cable box; however, I understand you stream a lot and want this content available when you need it. We can certainly help. The chat icon will populate once you sign in and create your first post on the forum. Once this is completed, you can log out and log in again to check the update if you don't see it right away.

I have had this annoying problem as well when using my computer's browser (Edge) to watch via Xfinity stream.  For me it seems to happen whenever I switch channels.  First time connecting is good, but switch to another channel and no sound.  What I've found that helps is to refresh the browser web page and that seems to force things to get back in synch.  The next channel I then pick has sound.  This is not a solution, but for me it is definitely a work-around.

Hello, @kvnm1! I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I've had a Microsoft Surface with Edge for some time. I, fortunately, haven't run into this issue yet. I'm sorry you have to create workarounds just to watch. I'll help figure this out. Have you checked to see what version of Edge you are using? Do you have issues if using any other browser or while streaming on the Stream App?

The version of Microsoft Edge that I am using is 91.0.864.41 (64 bit).   I just tried it again and the first channel I select plays audio just fine.  Then if I pick another channel I lose the audio.  Clicking on the "refresh" button in the browser tab does bring back the audio for me.  I also tried using the Chrome browser just now and did not have the issue.  Changing channels in Chrome worked just fine and there was no loss of audio.

Thank you for sharing that update! We're glad that this issue is not happening while using Google Chrome. This points to it possibly being an issue with the specific web browser instead of the site itself. Are you only using one computer when you run into this issue, or does this happen on all devices while trying to watch content via Microsoft Edge?

@ComcastVianney

Hi

The only responses I see from comcast  is "i'm sorry, please send us a private chat". Usually the company will post solutions in forums. I have the audio problem too using Edge  91.0.864.64 (Official build) (64-bit).

Is Comcast working on a solution? the product is basically un-usable. I get audio, then, if I stop the program, return later, start another program, zero audio, all stations.

Thanks

Thank you for your contribution to this thread. Unfortunately, we do not currently have an answer on this. We would love to figure out what is going on. Are you having issues with any other browsers?

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

I had the same problem with my wife's notebook.  Audio works elsewhere, checked all settings, etc.

Then I noticed the BROWSER TAB was muted.  It had a little speaker symbol with the line through it.

Right-clicked the tab and clicked "unmute site" - sound instantly appeared.

This is on Windows using Chrome; if I remember correctly, Firefox has a similar per-tab control.   Likely other browsers do also by now.

I doubt this will help with intermittent sound issues (certain channels/recordings, etc.); only with no sound all the time.
