Hey Comcast, This is What I Do NOT Like!
I decided to upgrade my Xfinity Stream service. My goal is to have TV everywhere I go with access to all channels I pay for. I want all the channels we all grew up to know exist, I want to login their app on Android TV (Shield), Roku, and Android mobile. If I pay for the channel, then I want it whichever way I entertain. Hey Comcast, this is what I do not like!
My channel packages
- Kids & Family
- Sports & News
- Entertainment
- HBO
- Showtime
- Starz
- Cinemax
- Epix
Channel apps Xfinity cannot sign into
- CBS
- ABC (cannot live stream in Detroit)
- Comedy Central
- BET
- MTV
- VH1
- Nickelodeon
- Paramount
- STARZ
Channels Xfinity does not have but advertise/list to customers as if they exist on their platform
- WEtv
- Investigation Discovery
Broadcast channels I pay for but cannot view the live stream on TV Go or their respective app
- ABC
- CBS
Xfinity premium channels discrepancies
Xfinity Stream on TV Go has 6 STARZ channels while Roku only has 4 channels
STARZ Cinema and In Black
Xfinity Stream on TV Go has 8 Showtime channels while Roku only has 4 channels
Showtime Beyond, Women, Family Zone, and Next
Xfinity Stream on TV Go has 8 Cinemax channels while Roku only has 4 channels
Cinemax MoreMAX, ThrillerMAX, OuterMAX, and Cinemax Spanish
Xfinity Stream on TV Go has 7 HBO channels while Roku only has 6 channels
HBO Family
Xfinity Stream on TV Go has 4 Epix channels while Roku only has 1 channel
Epix 2, Hits, and Drive-In
Available on mobile is TV Go while Roku is All Channels. On mobile while on home network the viewer gets to pick from All Channels and TV Go. There are inconsistencies in between both lineups. All Channels has some channels while TV Go is missing and vice versa.
Do not get The Movie Channel and save $10 because it is not available as TV Go and I cannot find an app. I do not like paying for channels that keeps me stuck at home.
All professional American sport channels are available on the Roku but not as TV Go nor can I login their respective apps.
Pro sport channels on Roku but not TV Go
- NFL
- Tennis
- NBA
- NHL
- MLB
More Sports & Entertainment package may solve the sports problem. If not, then I wonder who taught the executives business administration.
Other than that, Xfinity Stream and their respective TV brand/service is mostly good.

Actually they're not.
I have found that Cheddar, Tastemade and Sky News are available for on the go, but do not appear in the app itself. Even going online logging into the Comcast site looking at your guide, they only appear in that section. Why is this?
I'm not a fan of Cheddar or Tastemade and wouldn't even mark them as a favorite, but I do watch Sky News. Luckily they have their own Roku app to watch it. I find it incredible that Comcast hampers even stations they own. Yes, they own Sky News in the UK. Also odd that CNBC World isn't in the lineup even though they own it. But by all means let's keep duplicating the same channels over and over to make it appear you're getting 200 channels, when you're not. Nobody is fooled by this behavior anymore, this isn't 2000 where nobody has an HD TV.

Comcast does not have an agreement with Viacom to allow "TV Anywhere" type access. It's all about $$$ and data sharing. Nickoledeon and others are also not available to Comcast TV users.
