Fire stick not working

I have installed Xfinity streaming app on my fire stick Hd 1st generation running fire os 7.7.1.7.  But I can’t access any recordings or live tv, all I get is a simplified menu that doesn’t look like the menu I get on my phone or other fire stick tvs.

the menu offers the following options 

search 

my library    
   Home

   My list which does show my searches   

   Purchase 

live tv   

   All channels   Which says something went wrong try again later but no amount of waiting does anything 

   Favorite Chanel’s which is empty
