Beta app error TVAPP 00100

On 1-Sep 2021 ALL four of my Roku's required that I reactivate their Xfinity Beta streaming apps. I was able to reactivate three but my Roku 4640 throws the TVAPP 00100 error message. The "Xfinity.com/activate" tells me the code entry was successful and the Roku will activate shortly. This is when the Roku 4640 throws the error message. Yes, I have done all the control-alt-delete adds, subtracts, power down, power up, reinstall the app, etc. The Roku runs all other streaming apps perfectly. My internet speed is 400 mps.

In the past, xfinity had another authentication address that was sent to handshake with the Roku 4640 but I can not remember it's naming.

The Roku 4640 feeds my legacy media equipment and the BIG screen plasma. Suggestions on how the authorize streaming would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Since we're all paying to access Xfinity content and we all have a Roku device that will not stream Xfinity's BETA app. I've decided to make lemonade from the lemons we've been dealt.

1) Use the "Search" function on the ROKU home screen and download the streaming site you would normally watch via Xfinity (CBS, Fox, CNN, ESPN, BallySports, etc.).

2) Activate the app by identifying your TV provider (Xfinity).

3) Enjoy the additional content these apps allow. Replays, out of home-market content, on demand, etc.

4) Look for Free content - Pluto TV, etc.

Wait until they fix the app.  I'm assuming your other three devices are newer/different units?

We have 3 TVs that work and 3 that get this same error. All on the same day. Xfinity was no help when we called. I would hate to think we have to replace the Roku on all 3.

Hello! Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the troubles you have had streaming our Xfintiy Stream app through your Roku devices. I have always thought how it cool it was to have the option to do that rather than pay for a traditional cable box. My son uses one in his room and loves the freedom to stream that way.

We truly apologize that you have been having these troubles especially with the big plasma TV. However, I did want to include a list of support Roku devices through our Xfintiy Stream Beta app.

Roku TVs: A000X series, C000C series, 5000X series, 6000X series, 7000X series, 8000X series

Roku Streaming Media Players:

Roku Ultra (4340X, 4660X)

Roku Express (3700X, 3900X) and Express+ (3710X, 3910X)

Roku Premiere (3920X, 4620X) and Premiere + (3921X, 4630X)

Roku 2 (4210 only), Roku 3 and 4 (4200X, 4210X, 4230X, 4400X)

Roku Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick+: 3600X, 3800X, 3810X

Roku Sound Bar: 9100X

Devices must be on minimum firmware version 8.1 b1 or higher. The Xfinity Stream Beta channel will only appear in the Roku channel store for eligible devices.

Can you confirm that your other Rokus that are working are on this list and also doublecheck the models that are not working and that the firmware is updated, please? Let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

@XfinityDevinC

XDC, all four Roku's are running 10.0.0 , the three that are streaming are on the list. The 4640X is not on the list but we have been using using it in our media room since 2019 to stream Xfinity dependent on what our subscription would allow. We draw audio from the 4640X via the optical out to a 7.1 surround system and HDMI to a big plasma. The picture and audio from the 4640 have been great and not looking to replace it.

I can appreciate where you are coming from with not being willing to change the set up you have. It sounds like you have it set up just the way you like it!

We are happy to provide you with the Xfintiy Stream app free with your TV subscription and we work with Roku to allow streaming through them. This Roku platform is a 3rd party device so we are limited in what support we can offer. Due to equipment requirements, not all Roku models can be supported or it may also be that updates to our Xfintiy stream app could change the equipment requirements as we work to enhance our Xfintiy Stream app. We truly apologize that these are not supported and have to recommend that you upgrade to a different model Roku to continue to stream through this platform.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Once they fix it for the older units it will probably work again.  They still haven't fixed the underlying problem.

Devin,

We have a Roku 4630X running firmware version 10.0.0   It stopped working on Sept 1 and began the error code tvapp00100.

According to your list above, it should be working.

Any other advice you can give me??

@user_a9513e  Buy new units, send Comcast the bill.  They have to fix the software to work on these older units.

I have 2 Roku devices, both were working with no issues. Last night one stopped working and I tried rebooting the modem (unplug power, wait 20 sec and plug back in) and I tried uninstalling the app on the Roku's, rebooting them and reinstalling, still getting the TVApp-00100 error.

Now I have no service as this is the only way that I use cable service.

The following are the devices I'm using.

Roku Express (3700X)

Roku Premiere (4620X)

What else do I need to do to regain service?

As an update....I also have an Amazon FireStick, I was able to connect it and get it provisioned with no issues. At least I can watch TV in my office if not anywhere else in my house.

Starting today I am having this same issue with Roku Premiere 4620RW with s/w 10.0.0. Tried all the reboot/restart/reload suggestions to no avail.

I just spoke to an advanced tech rep and he said the Xfinity app certificate expired on 9/1 and there should be an update to remedy on 9/9.  We'll see.

@user_a2fd72  Then how come it works on newer units?  That doesn't make sense.

Not sure - could be different app versions?

Why is it that we see these posts from "users", not Xfinity/Comcast employees posting that there should be an update or anything, apparently they do not care about this forum to let people know what's going on. In a perfect world, we could have logged in here to see that Xfinity acknowledged that there was an issue and that they were working on a remedy, with an update on when they expected to see a fix to the issue.

If the app's cert expired, why did no one at Xfinity know about it coming due???? Don't you think that is kind of a BIG deal now a days when people are using streaming as their mode of entertainment??? Just venting a little, these are little things that make a HUGE impact!!

Remember customer service????

Same here 3700x - Roku Express Software version 10.0.0  Please fix this. It's very frustrating. I unplugged, restarted, pulled my hair out and screamed...(not really but I am very frustrated). Why fix something with a upgrade when it ruins things for so many people?

just talked to an xfinity rep a few minutes ago about this issue and he said he was just informed about this issue today. wasn't sure what time it would be resolved. Talked to another tech last night and they never mentioned this.

I have two Roku Premier 4630x's and they also stopped working around Sept 1. I also performed the recommended troubleshooting and "still" receive the TVapp-00100 error.

It's apparent Xfinity made a change to possibly force us to rent their TV Boxes but I also noted a firmware update from Roku, August 31, 2021. One or both of them need to own up to a modification and fix it asap. It will be very expensive for me to replace my Roku's.

Same issue on the 4630x and stopped working at the same time.  I also have smart TV's with roku running.  They were logged out, but they re-activated with no issue.  The Tivo Premier Plus or 4630x will not work.

@user_ba76d3

I was able to fix my issue by doing the following:

1. Login to the Roku app on your PC.

2. Make sure all of your Roku device names are unique and don't have (+) eg. Roku Premier +.  (I changed "Roku Premier +" to "Roku Premier 1")

3. Then uninstall the xfinity from your roku.  Ensure you uninstall the channel and not just remove it from the home screen.

4. Re-install it and activate it as normal.

5. The first screen that comes up shows the new name of the Roku device name.  I wasn't getting this far before.  I think it was named Roku Premiere +, or it shared the same name as another Roku device in my account.  In either case this might be causing that error message.

@user_ba76d3

THANK YOU!!!! I was going to be on the phone with Comcast for the next few hours trying to find out how to get my services working again!!!

For anyone else reading this, please follow the instructions this user posted, it will save you a TON of time.

1. Login to your Roku account using your PC (roku.com)

2. Under "My Account" scroll to the bottom and look at the "Linked Devices", although I had named my devices on the TV's they are connected to, this page did not display a name for them, so I named them here.

3. Go to your TV, Uninstall the Xfinity Stream App.

4. Restart your Roku.

5. Install the Xfinity Stream App.

6. Open the app, get the code (hold your breath)......activate it on the xfinity.com/authorize page.........

7. YAHOO!!! You can begin watching TV in your rooms that you have been missing for several days/week now!!!

Apparently you were lucky. Our Samsung with Roku premiere worked just fine but keep getting this error on my TCL Roku TV. Have tried all the above & still getting the error. Question when you say Restart the Roku, you mean turn the TV back on because it is Roku & TV in one, right?
