Anyone cut cord but kept Xfinity streaming?

Looking to cut my cable bill, i.e. cut the cord, by dumping the DVRs and associated cable services. But will maintain my internet service. By doing so, I can just go with other streaming services but does Xfinity offer a streaming option only, without including it as part of their TV services?  Is that Streampix?  And can I add extras like HBO Max, Showtime, etc. to the streaming service or will I have to get that from the other streaming services like Hulu, etc.?

What's killing me with the Xfinity TV packages are all the fees, I'm paying $39/month in service fees and taxes plus another $25/month in DVR and equipment fees, almost $65/month that I think I can do away with by streaming.

Anyone else getting Xfinity services this way, i.e. by streaming only?

Hello, @imngtech! Thank you for reaching out to us over our Community Forums! We would be more than happy to help review your account, to ensure you are getting the best value from your services. However, if you are looking to move to an internet only plan we do have a Streaming option you might like, Xfinity Flex. you

Xfinity Flex is a voice-controlled 4K streaming device that puts all your favorite streaming apps in one place on your TV. What makes it even better? It’s included with Xfinity Internet for no additional cost. It’s two amazing services for the price of one.

With Xfinity Flex, you’ll be able to stream more than 10,000 free movies and shows, access your favorite apps like Netflix, Prime Video and Hulu, and rent or purchase top movies and shows. The award-winning Xfinity Voice Remote makes it’s easier than ever to search across your apps, all in one place.

To use Xfinity Flex, you'll need an Xfinity Flex streaming device. The first Xfinity Flex streaming device (which is 4K ultra high definition, or UHD, enabled) is included with your Xfinity Internet service. Each additional streaming device is just $5 per month.

You can find more information about our Flex service here:

@ComcastMartinR Thanks, I did as you advised. I'm now looking into subscribing to available streaming services with my Infinity Flex setup. Where can I get more information on ChoiceTV, specifically, what channels does ChoiceTV offer?  The information I've seen posted on it is very vague, I'd like to know exactly what channels or programming is provided with ChoiceTV.  Thanks.

Great question! With Choice TV with Xfinity Flex, customers have access to affordable live TV with the flexibility to stream content or watch on a big screen, along with all the benefits of Xfinity X1, including voice control and an array of apps.

Service Includes:

  • Limited Basic tier of service
  • HD service
  • 20 Hours of Cloud DVR
  • Streampix
  • Xfinity Stream app
  • Flex customers will see an “Upgrade to Xfinity TV” tile or an Xfinity Stream app tile that when launched will allow them to upgrade to Choice TV with Xfinity Flex. Once the customer upgrades, they have access to the full functionality of the Xfinity Stream app like live TV, On Demand and DVR recordings.

Optional Services:

Optional services can be added through the Xfinity Stream app on the Flex streaming device:

  • Premium Channels
  • Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) services, International Premium Channels and more
  • Genre Packs*
*Can be added by saying “Upgrade to Xfinity TV” into your Voice Remote for the Flex streaming device.

Here are some helpful links where you can learn more about Choice TV on a Flex device. Also, you will see a link to the channel line up where you can get an idea of the channels available with Choice TV.

@ComcastMartinR Ok thanks for the additional info. I have a couple more questions on this matter of transferring to Xfinity Flex. I received my first bill, so I got some credits applied for my first bill on the Flex service because I paid the whole month for Xfinity TV when I switched to Flex approximately mid-month (mid-April). I noticed on my first Flex bill it states service fees, taxes, and other charges totaling $22.23 which I circled in red in the picture, which looks like credit was applied. Are these fees going to be charged monthly in addition to the monthly charge for the internet service itself?

Also, I'm on a month-to-month agreement right now but noticed online Xfinity was offering lower monthly options for the same connection if I signed for a 1-year contract with autopay. Can I sign up for this special offer online by just adding to cart and purchasing, or do I need to come into the store since I recently just made the change from Xfinity TV to Xfinity Flex?

Sorry for asking all these questions in the forum but when a chat bot comes up online asking if I need help, I say yes, but no one ever responds on the other end when I start asking these questions through the chat.  Thanks

Greetings, @imngtech! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. It looks like all the charges on the screenshot you shared were prefaced with a negative (-) symbol, so those should all be credits from the service change you described. There are no fees associated with Xfinity Flex service, unless you add additional Flex boxes to your account. The first Flex box is always $0.00, but any additional boxes would be $5.00 each (if applicable).

It's entirely possible that there may be promotions in your area with an additional discount for adding auto pay, or signing an agreement. If you could send our team a private message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Private Message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, and then type or select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a live chat.
