Xfinity stream on iPad - have sound but picture freezes

I can’t play anything on the xfinity stream app on my iPad. I have sound but the picture freezes within a minute and doesn’t play but the sound continues as if I was watching the program. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it but still have the same issue. Any advice?

I know this can be frustrating, because our Stream App is one of our more popular features.  Please send a private message with your name, the complete service address (including city, state, ZIP, suite number, etc), and the phone or account number, and any pertinent details-- like the ticket number(s)-- so we can help. You can do this by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner of your screen and send a message to the shared handle "Xfinity Support"

@XfinityRobertB​ has this been addressed?!?! All I see are non responses, this is getting very frustrating I’m thinking of getting rid of my xfinity account because I can’t watch anything on my iPad

Hello @user_56fa12! Thanks so much for reaching out to us here on the Xfinity Forums. Can you give us a little more info about your situation and what kinds of troubleshooting you've already tried?

 

Here are a few questions to get us started:

 

Have you had the chance yet to ensure that your tablet itself is up to date and running on the most current OS? 

 

Do you experience this issue on any other device or is it that one tablet?

 

Have you tried connecting to a different wifi network to see if the same thing happens still?

 

I look forward to your update so we can get to the bottom of this! :)

@user_ecec76 I’ve spent hours with tech support on this and nothing worked.  They were surprised to see comments about this issue have been posted for over a year.   I tried unsuccessfully to cancel my service because of this and was told that the Xfinity Stream is still in “beta” mode… so that’s what Comcast is going to hide behind to stick customers with an inferior product.  Hulu Live is 1000 times better… so get Xfinity internet and skip the TV service.

I am sorry to hear you have had issues using the Stream App, @user_ecec76. This is never the experience we want our loyal customer to have. You mentioned all devices are up to date. What devices have you tried the app on? Does the issue happen on every show or channel? Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall the app on each device? Do you have the same problem streaming when you bypass the app and just use the website? I appreciate the details and look forward to hearing from you!

This issue has been going on now for several months like they know about it but don’t care.  Maybe they want their app to have issues on the iPad.  Never had any issues using iPad viewing xfinity for years until now.  Please fix your xfinity APP!

@user_827a0f maybe that’s the issue. Maybe they think  If xfinity is having too much traffic over the internet, if they screw up the xfinity app it will save them bandwidth on their network.

I have the same issue as it appears a lot of people do. I see the problem posted all the time and all xfinity answers is we will look into.  I am ready to change.

There is no fix and Xfinity doesn’t appear to care.  I cancelled my TV service with them and moved to only internet which works great. I recommend going into the store to get the best deal. The agents on the phone are less than helpful.  Then you should subscribe to the various streaming tv services like Hulu live, YouTube live and even directv has a streaming app now.  I have Hulu live with a cloud DVR and have zero issues.  Totally worth it.
