Xfinity stream away from home on Roku and Fire Stick

So i found a thread that was talking about this but as usual i could not post to it, so i am starting a new one. I have been a Xfinity/Comcast customer since before they were Comcast. I pay well over 300 a month for their services, but maybe not any longer. I am currently working about 850 miles away from my home so we are currently living in our RV, i have no cable access here so I have been using a firestick, i had Xfinity app loaded onto the stick which gave me access to my shows i had recorded on my dvr box at home everyweek. Worked great, about 2 months it quit working, so i install the xfinity stream app because the other app is no longer available (and yes i downloaded it originally straight from xfinity website). Well guess what the new app doesn't work, says i have to be on my home network. Got out my Roku, it doesn't work either. Now since it worked before on my firestick for well over a year it has to be something with the new stream beta app, although nobody at the support can tell me what, you wait 45 minutes to talk to somebody that has no idea other than what is on their checklist. So is Xfinity going to fix this or am i going to drop them and go to the BBB for false advertising. Stream anywhere does not mean in the confines of my house.

We apologize for the inconveince that you have experienced with the Xfinity Stream App. At this time, the Xfinity Stream app is 100% compatible with the following Amazon devices:

  • Fire HD 6 (2014)
  • Fire HD 7 (2014)
  • Fire HDX 8.9 WAN (2014)
  • Fire HDX 8.9 (2014)
  • Fire (2015)
  • Fire 7 (2017)
  • Fire 7 (2019)
  • Fire HD 10 (2015)
  • Fire HD 10 (2017)
  • Fire HD 10 (2019)
  • Fire HD 8 (2015)
  • Fire HD 8 (2016)
  • Fire HD 8 (2017)
  • Fire HD 8 (2018)
  • Fire HD 8 (2020)

Unfortunately, at this time, the Xfinity Stream app is not compatible with Amazon Firesticks. If you happen to get it to work on an Amazon Firestick unfortunately since it is not considered a compatible device, if it stops working there is nothing Comcast can do to assist you with getting it to work on the un-supported device. It can’t be false advertising if they don’t advertise access for the fire stick. Its never been compatible . Could it have been side loaded?

No, as i posted in my post, i downloaded the app strait from the Xfinity website using the firestick internet app, same way i downloaded to my phone. The old app worked just fine, i couldn't access the tv feeds which was fine i didn't use them, but i could watch my recorded shows with no problem at all. The new Xfinity Stream Beta, which is the only app available now (the other app was called Xfinity), does not let me access my recordings, which should have nothing to do with my location because it a matter of accessing recorded content on my box that i am paying extra fees for.

As far as the firestick, Straight from Xfinity Stream app section on their website, APP is available on: Apple app store, Google play store, Amazon appstore. So since the firestick runs apps from the Amazon appstore and i cant think of anything else that uses the Amazon appstore, that means it should run on a firestick. And it is labeled as "Anywhere, Anytime".

But the stick isn’t compatible, just what’s listed for Android/Amazon devices for the present. “Anywhere, Anytime” just not “Anything”.

I agree.  I'm a new customer with Comcast and the app isn't even available on the Fire Stick App Store.

I have sideloaded, but it doesn't function very well.

for an RV use a pc or chrome book and a chromecast dongle or HDMI connection.
