We've got a location issue

Hi, trying to watch a local FOX station.  It works fine on the xfinity stream app on my phone because it asks my location.  However, when I try to use the same phone, hotspotted to my laptop, the xfinity stream website says "We’ve got a location issue.  Unfortunately, we can’t play this video within this market."  I am assuming this is because the browser is reporting me somewhere else, even though I am using the same phone.  How do I tell Firefox that I am in the local range of that FOX station?  Thanks.

Hello and Happy Wednesday!
We appreciate you taking the time to reach out regarding the streaming troubles you're experiencing when connected to your Hotspot!
You are correct in observing that it is in fact related to the location! Ultimately we do offer quite a few networks while outside of the home and connected to alternate hot spots and wi-fi networks. Though, the full content may not be able to accessed unless at home!
I've included a resource here if you'd like to check the details out of streaming certain content and network while in, versus out of home!
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/tv-go-live-streaming-networks
That being said, as for checking the location based upon where Firefox is recognizing, I know that there are some particular settings that can be altered in the configuration. However, we would recommend checking out the steps and specifics perhaps online.
Please let us know if you have any further questions! 🙂

I am having the same issue with ABC, however, this is happening when using the fire stick on a TV. Also the local NBC Connecticut is showing New York news and weather.

Hey @user_81b3ee! Have you checked your location settings on the Fire Stick already? Is this the only device it's happening on?

Anyone find a solution for this yet? I’ve watched local channels on my Firestick for about a year and are now getting this same notification!? I get every channel on the app, but the local CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox.

Same error message.

Why cannot I not watch national stations from my iPad? I get the same error message when trying to view CBS, ABC, NBC, etc. I would think these stations being broadcast nationally would be available on my iPad if I’m connected to WiFi.
are you saying the market I’m in (I’m not at home) now does not get *any* of these national channels?

What “troubleshooting “ steps do you recommend?

Thank you for taking the time to reach out on our Xfinity Forums. Just to clarify, you mentioned you were connected to Xfinity Wi-Fi. Are you connecting to one of our Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots or are you connected to your in home Wi-Fi network?

I see that you have tried to restart the device. Have you also tried to uninstall and then re-install the Xfinity Stream app?
