Stream Beta App constant intermittent audio and connection dropouts

I've been having this problem for awhile, and it's getting worse. No other app on my smart TV (Roku TCL) has these issues.

The Xfinity Stream Beta app and only the Xfinity Stream Beta app has intermittent audio drops on every channel. This happens about every 2 minutes for a few seconds. When it gets really bad, it also drops the connection entirely and buffers for a few seconds before reconnecting, often returning to the moment in the program where it cut out.

All firmware is up to date. I have rebooted the router and uninstalled/reinstalled the app several times, especially in the last two days to fix the TVAPP-00100 issue.

I have contacted phone support three times without any resolution.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

How long does this Xfinity App have to remain in Beta status?  I've been using it for years already... it's NOT something new.  One would think there would be a stable release by now.

Hello and thanks for reaching out @user_b800a1. Thank you for taking the time to reach out and provide your feed back about the Stream app. There currently is not an estimated time on when the app with be out of Beta status. Hopefully in the near future it will be.

I no longer work for Comcast.

I have four different TVs in the house using Fire TV Cube and the latest generation Fire Stick 4K.  I cut the cord many years ago and have used several different live streaming services without any performance problems.  With more than 40 years in the IT business, my smart home network has always used current technology with more than adequate bandwidth.  A year ago I switched from Hulu Live to Xfinity Stream as a cost saving measure, and because I was bumping up against the 1Gb data cap (before the 1.2Gb increase).  Regrettably, the Xfinity Stream "beta" app has been nothing but trouble since day one.  On-demand content works fine but live streams are a continual source of frustration with random and repeated freezing.

The issues are not confined to any specific networks but do seem to occur more frequently on commercials or when coming back to live content following a commercial.  I have performed all the usual troubleshooting tasks including updating software and firmware and even replacing Fire Sticks, network routers and the cable modem.  Nothing has changed the nature of the problem.  Sometimes it seems to get better and the content streams fine with only minor freezing over the course of a day.  Other days, like today, the freezing occurs with every commercial and returns to the live content in progress so you've missed 5-30 seconds of the program.

Today I went so far as to install a 14 day trial of YouTube TV on the main TV (the one that was locking up all day) and ran ABC side-by-side with another TV running ABC with Xfinity Stream.  Both Fire TV devices were using Cat6 Ethernet cables direct to the router, so there were no physical variables like WiFi interference or structured wiring problems.  You guessed it, YouTube TV never skipped a beat while Xfinity Stream was freeze-o-matic.

Obviously, the problem is the Xfinity Stream app and not my network or streaming devices.  I know Comcast won't do anything but offer disingenuous platitudes. I am NOT getting the service I pay for but unfortunately I have 10 months remaining on my 2 year contract.  On the other hand, my family is so upset that I may be forced to pay another $70 a month for YouTube TV or Hulu Live just to keep peace in the house.  But no question I will be exiting this horrendous service as soon as possible.

@user_a7f45a Do you pay Xfinity for TV/Stream service only and have internet with someone else? If you have both, you can make changes to your services downgrade/upgrade without affecting your term agreement. So you can ditch the TV part and keep internet. They have some great internet only deals going on right now. At least in my area.

@user_a7f45a I'm really sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Xfinity Stream app and I'd like to see if we need to do some refreshments on your account on our end, or some other troubleshooting. Can you reach out privately with your account information?
