Safari 15 cannot open Xfinity stream on the iMac

It hangs on the buffering screen when I try to stream Xfinity TV on the Xfinity website.  Only occurred once I updated to Apple's latest browser, Safari 15.

I have a MacBook Pro that updated to Big Sur, Safari 15 and has Chrome. Streaming works on nothing!

@KishH This is a bug in Safari 15.0.  It’s fixed in 15.1, which you can download now

Streaming does work on version 15.1 beta 4.  Beta software is riskier and may break other things.   I expect that Safari 15.1 will be released soon.

I have the same issue using Safari v. 15.0. The video stream is hanging up on the "Now connecting to your entertainment experience" screen and never loads.

Have you tried using a different browser? This looks like it is a known issue, unfortunately at this time we don't have a fix for the Safari 15 and are recommending that our valued customers try using a different web browser until a fix is found.

Same issue, Safari 15 on Mac OS 10.15.7. Works on Firefox 78.14.0esr. Should be trivial to duplicate by Xfinity.

Also YES to all requirements. I was told by Xfinity technical assistance that private relay must be turned off in order for it to work again. I'll be contacting Apple and asking for their support and assistance to accomplish this. I will report back if my efforts meet with success. Please to all of us, keep us posted with your updates until the situation has been resolved to everyone's satisfaction. We need valid and consistent answers here!

Been trying to get this fixed with xfinity support for like a week or more. Tried safari, opera, and google browsers and nothing. Was on live chat with xfinity support and messed up and ended chat. So thought In google one more time found this. Downloaded Fire Fox and works fine on Fire Fox so thinking it should be a easy fix. Just glad now I can watch the game on TV and Red Zone on iMac. Thank you user_a54ac4.!!!!!!!

Fire Fox was working for me.  It may have updated.  Now indicates v92.01.  Now it does not work either.

Hi, @user_f82dbf. Are you saying your issue is Safari 15 not working with Stream? We are aware of the issue and do not have a workaround at this time except using a different browser. We are working on a fix for the issue.

UPDATE: I can confirm that all channels work when using Mozilla Firefox. This is the only workaround that I have found so far. Chrome will open the channel list but some channels fail to play and Safari continues to fail to load the Xfinity Stream website. Thank you for making the Firefox suggestion brentwallis!

Hello, @runner311, thank you for posting that solid workaround to be able to use your Stream app. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this known issue, however; that is currently the best option to still enjoy your service on that platform for the time being. Thank you so much for being patient while a fix is determined.

Given the number of Xfinity customers who use the Mac platform, you need to fix the incompatibility.

@runner311   What version of Firefox?   Mine indicates 92.01 and that is not working.

Same for my IMac and my husband’s MacBook—after Safari updated, we are unable to use Xfinity Stream on these devices.

We should not have to do anything different(i.e. downloading different browsers, etc.)--for what we pay for Xfinity, I feel they should fix this issue, so we can use Safari if we want.

As loyal Xfinity customers, we should not have to download different browsers, etc. For what we pay monthly, I feel that Xfinity should fix this issue so that we can continue to use Safari if we want.

Firefox will not work for xfinity streaming on my MacBook Pro--message says my system is not compatible, but all systems are newer than what is stated to be the minimum requirement. Of course Safari 15 isn't working at all for xfinity streaming.
