No Sound Xfinity app MSNBC

Cannot get voice on any of my TVs using Xfinity App.  I cleared cache.  Updated software on Fire TV  and Fire stick. Uninstalled/ Reinstalled application without success.
channel works fine via TVs with a cable box.  Commercials on MSNBC produce sound.  When channel returns to programming, no voice.  This seems to be the only channel with this problem.

For MSNBC only video on laptop; sound only for commercial break. No sound for program. Other channels are okay.

Same issue on kindle Fire 10. No sound on msnbc or cnbc. Cleared the cache, reinstalled the app, restarted kindle. It has been 4 days. Other channels and apps are fine.

@XfinityDilary Dilary can you expand on the known issue and coordinate with your support team that you should speak with one voice and not 4 ?

Hello, msnbc has no audio. I’m streaming it through an up to date Amazon Fire stick. Is there a solution for this issue? I’ve uninstalled the app and re installed.

We are having the same issue. The only channel with no audio is MSNBC.  This was happening last night and has continued all day.  I have tried everything suggested to fix this problem with no success.  There is no audio on TV or my phone Xfinity app.

This is terrible. How can it just be one channel that does not work?

@XfinityLinda reaching out asking a complaint board if the issue is still happening is a poor way to interact with your customer base. Are you guys off shore and lack the ability to replicate the issue ?

Hello, @user_63ys1l thank you for taking time to reach out here over Xfinity Forums. Our engineer team is working to get the MSNBC sound issue resolved, I'm following along for the fix and will make sure to keep you in the loop. Reviewing, the ticket was opened on 9/26 and still being worked. There is a note on the ticket that if customers are trying to access MSNBC on the home network through the Xfinity Stream App, to attempt on of the other MSNBC channels that don't have "TV Go" next to it. When I signed into Xfinity Stream, I see channels 47, 661, and 113. When I choose the 661 channel the sound was working for me. Hopefully this is a good work around for you in the meantime, I'll check back here with you throughout the remaining ticketing work.

Thank you for reaching out to our team here. There was a known issue with that app and the audio that our engineers were aware of, and were working to correct. Are you still experiencing that issue?

I assume the solution, if it happens will resolve both channels- MSNBC and CNBC!  I could not even get a person to answer my calls. I still think it relates to the recent spinoff of MSNBC and CNBC from comcast, but why only no audio?

12 Messages

@XfinityNatalie clearly not a priority for XFinity if it's still happening. Run the app on dev edition of xfinity stream and isolate why the sound is being muted; it seems like a setting. It doesn't seem to impact cable subscribers but that population is slowly dwindling. Maybe you should reccomend the users move you tube tv ?  https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/?utm_servlet=prod

When you resolve the issue you can come back to this msg board and tell us re-sign up with XFinity

user_rar9k8 I apologize that you and other customers are experiencing this frustrating issue with the MSNBC voice dropping out on the Xfinity Stream App, particularly on Fire TV devices. Dealing with this for three days is definitely frustrating.

We are aware of similar reports regarding this specific channel behavior (where sound works for commercials but not the main programming). This strongly suggests a system-level audio feed issue rather than a problem with your individual device setup.

While our team works to pinpoint and fix the cause, please let us know what troubleshooting steps you've already completed besides the ones you listed (clearing cache, updating software, and reinstalling the app).

For instance, have you tried:

  1. Checking other channels to confirm MSNBC is the only one affected?

  2. Testing the Stream app on a different type of device (like a phone or tablet) to see if the voice issue persists there?

Sharing this detail will help us confirm the scope of the problem as we work toward a solution. Thank you for your patience!

@user_l0qsym Thanks for making us aware of this sound issue you're currently experiencing. I would be more than happy to help find a solution to this problem you're having. So that we don't go over something you've already done, can you please share with me what troubleshooting steps have you completed on your own?

Record a show on DVR play it back on the app np there. Only commercials or promos for the future shows have sound. Issue is exclusive with MSNBC and now CNBC. It's not a house issue. It's not a wifi issue. It's not a cache issue. It's XFinity App issue. Happens at home when streaming from Firestick and seperately when I'm outside of the house on my Android phone. It's been happening for about 4 consecutive days now. It could also be an MSNBC issue as the sound comes on during non-programming.

Ps this is not the 1st time this has happened. I've posted on this before.

The lack of sound is only with the xfinity stream app for me. The MSNBC app is fine. And it's fine on the Sirius App. Very strange.

Same here. No sound on msnbc and cnbc. Spent hours with amazon fire tv tech support and xfinity and nothing got solved. Fire tv tech said it is a problem with xfinity because if it was a fire tv issue, none of the channels would have audio. Xfinity tech said he has never seen anything like this before but told me that xfinity tech support should have a fix for this within 24 hours. I don't think that happened. I expect a credit from Xfinity for the hours wasted and being unable to watch these channels for a couple of days and counting.
