MSNBC Audio trouble XFINITY STREAM

The only station on the Xfinity Stream app on my iPhone, with either no or broken audio, is MSNBC. 

I have…

restarted my phone

removed and reinstalled the app

made sure my phone is up to date

logged out and logged back in

Any other suggestions?

@user_axw04z I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with sound on the XFINITY stream App. I have a few questions to ask, so we can resolve this for you.

Do you have this same issue with MSNBC on your cable box if you have one?

Is it certain shows or certain times?

When did this start?

How long is the sound out? Is it a few seconds, minutes, hours or all day?

The problem seems to have been resolved this morning. The problem began last Thursday (6 days ago).  While at its worst, I had no audio for hours. Yesterday, audio began in 2.5 minutes each time I started MSNBC on the app.

@XfinityEva​ I am having same issue as described in this and other comments here.  Have video but no sound when streaming for only MSNBC programs.  Will get sound for some of the commercials on MSNBC but not all.  All other channels work fine.  I did note that I am streaming from my work computer which has corporate VPN (but connected through my home xfinity wifi) and that the stream indicated it is TVGo MSNBC.  I do not have the issue when streaming from my personal computer connected through my home xfinity wifi which the stream indicates a channel number rather than TVGo.   Also did not have issue streaming from my IPad on the same wifi at the same time.  Could it have anything to do with the VPN?  Never had issue on my work computer VPN in the past.  Issue only stated afternoon on 9/25/2025

user_d2cdff Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfintiy Community Forums. That sounds incredibly frustrating when you're trying to watch a program! We want to assure you that this is a common, solvable issue, and it points directly to your corporate VPN conflicting with our service.

 

The key difference you noted is the stream label:

  • Work Computer (TVGo): Your VPN masks your actual home location. Our TVGo stream often requires stricter geographic checks to ensure licensing compliance. When our system sees a non-home IP address from the VPN, it allows the video through but blocks the program's main audio feed.

  • Commercials Working: Commercials are sourced locally by the Xfinity platform. Their audio is separate from the main program feed, allowing it to bypass the VPN block.

  • Personal Devices Working: Your personal devices work fine because they use your true home IP address, granting full, unrestricted access to the standard stream.

Since this only started on 9/25/2025, it’s likely due to a recent security update either from your company’s VPN or a stricter licensing enforcement on our end. To Fix this you will want to disconnect the VPN, contact your IT Department or use a personal device. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Experiencing the same issue, only with MSNBC.  Tried it on 2 different laptops using the Xfinity stream web site, no audio for MSNBC.  Oddly, the commercials have audio, but the program does not.  Saw the issue last week and now seeing it again today.  9/25/25, between 2pm and current time of 5:25pm.  Also experienced the issue on my Android S21 on Xfinity wifi as well as on cellular data (Xfinity Mobile) with the same results.  Latest Xfinity Stream app on the Android phone running the latest Android OS.  Tried to use the Xfinity chat system for troubleshooting but has been useless so far.

Same problem on 9/25/2025. Volume works fine on other channels and when I switch to MSNBC during a commercial, there is sound, but it disappears when the program comes back on.

I'm having the same problem.  I will note this has happened before.  It rarely lasts more than 24 hours, but is specific to MSNBC and pretty irritating

Update: contacted Xfinity support this afternoon.  The technician indicated it was an application issue and promised it would be fixed within 2 hours.  An update will be posted with the results after the 2 hours.

Update: Text from support saying the services were restored, respond Y or N.  Well, not resolved.  They called me back, apparently this is a known issue that is being escalated and they will send an update once it has been resolved.

Hello, @user_afpknj and sorry to read you are also experiencing this issue with MSNBC. It is a known issue our engineers are working to resolve. For now, we recommend choosing other MSNBC channels on the Stream App when on your in-home network.

Same problem.  Half the commercials have audio.  Nothing else.  All MSNBC programs for over 24 hours.

I am having the same issue with my Samsung Tablet. All channels work - picture and audio, except MSNBC. I have a picture as normal, and can see people talking, but have no audio.Today, after about 20 minutes of no audio, it popped on for about 5 minutes, then turned off again.

Same issue, this is the third day for me that MSNBC has NO audio on Xfinity Stream app TV GO channels. I have tested this on Android phone, 2 Firesticks, 1 Fire TV, Macbook running Edge browser and Firefox, PC running Edge and an Ipad. This is just another problem with Xfinity and their terrible service and even worse support on the Stream app.
