Location Issue on Sports Live Stream even though I am close to home

I have gotten a location issue when trying to live stream live sports on the Stream app (my last 3 times trying to watch different sports (football on Fox, soccer on Univision, soccer on NBCSN).  I am not at home, but near home.  Can I only stream while at home?  That would be an odd twist, since I'd only want to stream when away from home.  It says, "We've got a location issue, unfortunately, we can't play this video within this market".  Is there any way around this?

Hey there, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums! Some channels are not available outside of your in-home network. Here is a link to the channels that are available, https://comca.st/3C9njhK. Let me know if you have any additional questions! We are here to help!

Total joke. What is the point of streaming when Xfinity blocks streaming!

Hello @user_f066ad, thanks for reaching out to us for help with the Xfinity Stream app. For clarification, is it only live sports you are having trouble viewing? Also, are you trying to view a network that is already included in your TV subscription, and what errors are you getting when trying to view the programs?

When xfinity markets this app as one of their services, they should be required to have a disclaimer stating it doesn’t carry live sports.  It seems dishonest given they probably know at least half their customers would want to stream live sports when they are away from home.

So why won't Xfinity allow me to stream "local" live sports when I am away from home?  I pay gobs of money each month for triple play service, and I am now in NJ visiting parents over holidays and I want to watch the Patriots later this afternoon and xfinity won't let me because I am not at home.  I should be able to watch any programming available to me at home, for which I pay for, when I am also away. Xfinity - please tell me why?  And don't tell me the NFL dictates this rule - not true.

Thank you for reaching out with the concerns. I do know that it is up to the individual networks to allow the options to watch TV GO instead of in home live streaming.

While we’d like to make all content available to you through network streaming apps and websites, we may only do so when we have an agreement with the networks. Whenever we renew our programming agreements with TV networks, we explore the possibility of increasing accessibility through network streaming apps and websites, as well as through On Demand.

I no longer work for Comcast.

That sounds like Xfinity is simply kicking it down the road.  I agree with the others who have complained…it’s a pointless app

I can promise you that we aren't "just kicking it down the road." We are limited by the agreements that the channels have agreed to. I can understand that you are frustrated. We do have chances to renegotiate the contracts from time to time, and we will make sure we pass this along for you.

We can't even use the channels streaming service because Comcast doesn't allow it. I have just spoken with Root Sports and they said it's Comcast. Direct TV, Fubo and other cable/tv streaming services have 0 issue. But I pay through the nose to comcast and can't stream Root Sports while away from the house and can't use the networks streaming app because of Comcast. It's a total joke. Might be time to make the move away from this monoply and on to the next.

Hey there, @user_1960d6. Thank you for bringing your shared concerns to the community for assistance. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with accessing some of the programming you enjoy, and I'm happy to help in any way that I can! Are you speaking of AT&T SportsNet (formerly known as Root Sports)? I do not see it in our Available Networks to Live Stream In-Home and Out-of-Home with Xfinity TV, and that may be why (if it's third-party owned). We can't speak to another company and what they offer, but our Digital Care Team is always around to assist you with any service(s) of ours that you subscribe to! Please let us know what other questions you have, and we'll help however we can.
