LG TV, Xfinity Stream, Weather Channel Issue

Is anyone else having this problem with the Weather Channel on Xfinty Stream, on an LG TV? Everything working as expected EXCEPT ... recently (June 2 or 3) on both our LG TV's the Weather Channel HD (270 and 1102 in our area) will not start up; it times out with the message "This Video Can Not Be Played, TVAPP-00100". Weather Channel HD works fine on Xfinity Stream on iPhone, so the problem is LG TV. I've discovered that the non-HD Weather Channel works (39 in our area.) But due to a default setting, if you launch the non-HD station, Xfinity Stream immediately and automatically switches to HD and the launch fails. Here's a solution: After exiting from any current channel playing, go to Xfinity Stream settings on the opening screen, far right of the line that begins with "Live TV". (Note -- not LG settings in the upper right corner.) Go down to Playback Preferences. Select Play Best Available (which probably says "On"); go down to "Off" and select it. Exit (twice) from settings. This will allow you to launch non-HD channels (from "Live TV" -- the Guide) without the autoswitch to HD. Note that the autoswitch feature is the default because it's, I guess, a desirable feature?

Thank you for sharing those details and the workaround you found, SkokieBob. I can definitely see how frustrating it is when the Weather Channel HD won’t launch on your LG TVs, especially when everything else is working as expected. We appreciate you outlining the steps to disable Play Best Available, as that does appear to be a helpful temporary workaround for accessing the non-HD version of the channel without it automatically switching to HD. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend also making sure the Xfinity Stream app and the LG TV software are fully up to date, then trying the app again after restarting the TV. If the issue continues, let us know so we can take a closer look.

LG Software Version 04.54.40, and Auto Update is selected. Check for Updates gives No updates found. Xfinity Stream version in "About" is 2.5.3. Restarting the TV (off, unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug, on) does not fix it. Restarting my Xfinity Gateway does not fix it. Everything else on the TV and in my home works.

This exact problem is happening with the Weather Channel on our Samsung TVs now. Works on other devices. Only Weather Channel doing it. SD workaround trying to load non-HD version doesnt work either.

Is anyone at Xfinity trying to solve this problem? Why no updates?

Exact same problem. Xfinity customer in Crystal Lake, XB8 gateway, LG OLED Smart TV software version 33.31.61. Everything was working fine then approx. 2 weeks ago the Weather Channel quit working. One thing gets updated then something else breaks.
