Casting Xfinity Stream Content to Chromecast Now Available

Good news! Xfinity customers can now cast programming from the Xfinity Stream app directly to Chromecast devices and supported-TVs. Just look for the casting icon on the top righthand side of the screen to start casting.

I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling and it still does not work.

I did a test where the SSIDs are the same name but the chromecast is on the 2.4 ghz radio while the iphone is on 5.0 ghz and it still works so it isn't a different radio issue on the same network. run the fling app and scan your network. does it see your phone and the chromecast on the same network?

They are on the same network. The strange thing is I can connect the Netflix app along with many others via Chromecast with no problem at all.

did fing show them both? can you ping the chromecast dongle using the fling app from your smart device?

It’s not an EDID issue or resolution problem. 60fps video does appear to be available now but really all Xfinity Stream products need to offer higher bitrates.

I have the exact same issue.  I can cast all other apps, just not the xfinity stream app.  I get the xfinity logo, and then it times out, and says network error.    Have they admitted an issue, yet?  It is not a network error!!

I’m missing the casting icon from one of my iPads. Any fix for this?

This feature was just working for me yesterday, but today when I tried to use the feature to watch the NBA playoff game, it keeps saying that my chromecast device can't be found. I've double checked the connection multiple times, and the TV is barely two months old so I'm sure it isn't a TV issue.

Also, chromecast on my TV is still working for other apps such as Netflix, so it is a for sure an xfinity stream app issue. The app is version 6.9.0.2061

Hello, @konnie9900, thank you for reaching out in our forum for help with your Stream app concerns. I use that bad boy every day lol, it's a great way to save money on equipment costs so I get why you need it up and running. Plus, I'm a big fan of the NBA, so I can only imagine how you're feeling. Who's your team? To make sure we get started on the same page, what troubleshooting steps have you already taken? That way we can try to avoid any repeat steps.

Sounds like I’m not the only one that is having this problem. After reading all the comments and responses it looks like Xfinity hasn’t fixed it’s app. Has anyone had any luck fixing the chrome cast problem? I’ve deleted the app and re installed it, reset the chromecast, re connected the WiFi and used multiple WiFi networks but non of them worked.

xfinity please fix your app.
