Porting an existing number from another carrier - replacing my phone number on my activated Xfinity phone.
The subject more or less says it all, but just in case, here are all the details:
- I have an existing account with Consumer Cellular
- I recently opened a new account with Xfinity
- I activated the Xfinity phone, accepting a new number instead of porting over my existing phone number
- I decided to do this to shake away some spam
- I failed to consider what a pain it was going to be for myself and others to update to my new phone number
- So now I have an activated Xfinity phone and regret accepting the new number
- I would like to port over my existing phone number from Consumer Cellular, replacing the new number on my activated Xfinity phone
I called in and was told that this is not possible. There are other posts here that contradict that claim, but I was unable to follow through because of missing icons and broken links.
Make sense? Any help?

Hello, @user_b16bbe! Thank you for creating a new post regarding your interest in porting over a telephone number to use with your Xfinity Voice service. I haven't had a new number in many years, but can imagine the difficulty it would cause changing numbers (for you and others who contact you).
To clarify, when you said you called and were told that you'd be unable to port that old number over to us, you were talking of speaking with us (Xfinity), right? There are a few reasons you might not be able to at this time, but we're here to help figure that out! Is that number with the other party still active and in your name?

Hi Sara. Thanks for the help.
"To clarify, when you said you called and were told that you'd be unable to port that old number over to us, you were talking of speaking with us (Xfinity), right?"
Yes. However, I saw this post from XfinityAlisha that seems to say otherwise.
"Is that number with the other party still active and in your name?"
Yes. The phone number is still active with Consumer Cellular.
Please advise. Thanks again.
