Phone won't automatically join xfinity wifi hotspots?

So I ordered my iPhone day directly from xfinity on release day. The issue i have had since i got my phone (i did install the xfinity hotspot app) is my phone won't automatically join either XFINITY or xfinitywifi (i don't know the difference) around my area. If i'm somewhere that has the hotspot available i can click on it and i will connect but it will never "auto" connect which is a pain. I shouldn't have to click on it for it to connect. I have "Auto-Join" set on both of them. I have installed the xfinity hotspot app. Previously I had a Google Pixel which worked fine. Any ideas?

Thank you for reaching out on the forums, @user_cf91a4! We don't have full access to Xfinity Mobile (XM) accounts, but you can reach the XM team at (888) 936-4968, or on their dedicated chat at the following link:

Hi @user_cf91a4 , Xfinity Mobile devices connect to Xfinity WiFi Hotspots automatically - they do not require the profile downloaded from the Hotspots App. This is likely why you are experiencing issues when trying to automatically connect to Xfinity WiFi Hotspots. Remove the Hotspots App from your device and instead, you can download the Xfinity App, where you'll find the Hotspot Map and other great features to manage your services.

So I removed the hotspot app. I still have the same issue. The other day i was near the xfinity store so i decided to pop in. The tech said he tried to help someone with the same issue a few days before and was unable to resolve the issue. Told me to contact apple. Come on i don't have any issues auto joining any wifi networks other than xfinity. I did try to call support too but after spending over 1 hour on the phone with the lower level support people that generally don't know what they are doing i got wore out and decided to hang up.

Good afternoon

We would love to offer further troubleshooting support for your hotspot connection. To do so effectively, we would recommend you reach out to our Xfinity Mobile team directly so we can troubleshoot from your account. I know you have tried this in person at a Xfinity Store location. Have you tried calling (888) 936-4968, or on their dedicated chat at the following link?
