Question regarding Myacct app to Xfinity app

Since we are part of the older set we use wired desktop computers exclusively when using the internet. Having been a customer for over a 20 years,  we have found it is best to wait for "kinks" to be worked out with any new Xfinity change. This is the message we are greeted with when signing into My acct.

We're streamlining your app experience!

The My Account app is going away soon. Now, the Xfinity app is the best way to manage all your Xfinity services.

Download today

We think this is going to affect us drastically. Will we be able to examine, make changes to our account, electronically correspond with Xfinity, or even just go to the forum section; OR is this ONLY a mobile app that can not be used on wired computers?

Hello, @nickp1! Thank you for posting to the Xfinity Forum to get help with the Xfinity App. Those are great questions! Yes, you will be able to do all of these things with the App, plus correspond with Xfinity and access the forums directly from the app.

@nickp1 If your modem is not on the approved list for your speed tier, you will not receive your full speeds. That happens only because the modem is not optimized for the speed tier itself. I have seen customers report a small decrease but there has been accounts where speeds drop dramatically. If you are not seeing speed tests anywhere near your speed tier then I would advise to either upgrade your modem or change the speed tier.

For a complete list of all compatible modems for your speed tier, please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/

To receive all your Xfinity Internet has to offer including immediate access to any provided increased speed tiers, we recommend our Xfinity Gateways. Xfinity Gateways combine the technology of an Internet/Voice modem and WiFi router neatly in one piece of equipment, delivering in-home WiFi that's fast and reliable. Additionally, Gateways provide access to exclusive features and simple tools with our free Xfinity app, and enhanced products like Advanced Security and xFi Pods.

For additional information about our Xfinity Gateways, please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/why-rent-wireless-gateway

For information on Internet speed tiers and assistance making changes to your Internet speed, please see here: https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/speedhttps://www.xfinity.com/learn/existing/offers-changeplan

Please let us know if you have any other questions or need additional assistance.

I have one more question before I make "the change" to the Xfinity app. I have read that many customers are having a variety of issues with their Gateways after changing to the Xfinfinty app. I have my customer owned Arris SBG10 Gateway and Internet Fast which was 300 Mbps but was raised to 400Mbps internet by Xfinity, I have had no issues since the speed raise even though my Gateway NOT listed on Xfinity approved  devices for 400Mbps, but I think I will have issues making the app change which I would rather prevent  then correct. Will I have to lower my internet speed to 200Mbps because my Gateway isn't list on the recommended devices but it IS on the approved listed for 200 bps ?
