Hey @raytrode, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. If you rent an Xfinity xFi Gateway, the best and easiest way to manage the network us through our Xfinity App. The application is supported on a wide variety of devices from tablets to mobile phones. So if you have an iOS or Android Tablet, you can install the Xfinity App there.
You may be able to view some limited information and settings by logging into the Admin GUI, but you would need the Xfinity App in order to access the feature. You can learn more about enabling this feature and accessing the Admin GUI tool by visiting our 'Allow Xfinity WiFi Gateway Admin Tool online access using the Xfinity app' support page. For security, we are unable to remotely enable this feature and will need to be performed using the Xfinity App and Xfinity ID/Password.
Please let us know if there is anything more we could assist you with regarding our Xfinity Internet and Xfinity xFi Gateway. We are always happy to help.

Im a independant I.T. Servicer in Flint, Michigan. I have over 30 years doing network setups and installs, (mac and PC) including wifi installs and modems for customers with Comcast(xfinity), Charter(Spectrum communications)Hughesnet, ATT and multiple other providers. I have to ask, What about the people that refuse to use a mobile device? Wether that be a phone or a tablet. I understand the security point that is trying to be made, however, the admin page is hidden behind username and a password. If its the stock one, a would be attacker would have to see the tag on the box. If its customer set password(most cases not), a bit harder to crack. If the arguement is : it could be sourced another way, then my answer would be, the app is just as insecure on a mobile device. Again, i understand the security side of it, however, there are circumstances that warrant the ability to access the device in the customers home. At this point all i can see, is a way to force customer into a mobile device just for the app on your service. I find it interesting that the rest of the companies I deal with do not have this requirement. I will be suggesting to all my current XFinity customers to buy there own boxes so they can have control over them. On a side note and at the same time, it will eliminate the extra wifi that the x boxes broadcast for any Xfinity subscriber to use. YES all company owned boxes broadcast this over and above your set wifi. So XFINITY, do you have another solution to this debacle? Return to the past certificate for the mta's and give the customer a choice in the online account. And then Notify them with something more than tiny text on a bill. It is my hope that we can get access directly with hard cable and not have all these cloak and dagger games. Sorry for my rant but i have to agree with original poster as i just ran across this with 2 of my senior customers. No access to see stats of connection or broadcasting wifi or whats connected. Bit frustrating to say the least.
