Espn not working on Xfinity app

Is anybody else experiencing this issue? I have the app on my phone and I can watch ESPN. When I mirror it to my TV, it doesn’t work. I then install the app on my TV And I am running into the same problem.

Hello user_z07uri this isn't a widely reported issue with the Xfinity Stream App.  When trying to access ESPN, what errros are you getting?

user_xyu8i0 What is the make and model of the TV you have the app installed on that is getting the error? Is the Stream app giving the error or the TV itself when you try to open the stream app?

I have been having this issue for months now as well. It is clearly an issue with the app or Xfinity. Simple troubleshooting is not going to fix this.

I am having a similar issue. When I try to launch the app it says it is not available and gives the error code: APPS-04036.

Yep that’s the code I get. I had a tech come out. Tech replaced my set top X1 box. Still having same issues. Tech said it was a problem with ESPN. passed the buck. If I hit the ‘C’ on remote and choose a game that is only on ESPN+. I have a better chance of it making the connection.  Trying to go thru the ESPN app is a nightmare and very frustrating.

I'm also unable to load the ESPN app and ESPN+ when going through the X1 Xfinity service.  The step are:

Using my x1 remote I hit the "xfinity" button, then I choose the "Apps" tab, then I scroll down to the "Sports" section and choose the "ESPN" app.  I get the message that I'm entering a 3rd party app and next I'll see the ESPN logo on the screen and the spinning icon below it.  It goes so far to show me the ESPN app menu buttons on the left of the TV screen but then it freezes and I get the message - "Sorry, we're having trouble with this app" with an error code APPS-04036 and at that point it exits out of the app back to the apps menu.   

This is an issue as we recently purchased a subscription to the ESPN+ service so we can catch some games we want to see that are only offered with a subscription.  

This has been going on for weeks for me and it happens on all of my TVs - main DVR box and on the wireless boxes.   I have restarted the boxes, synced my boxes and tried everything else.   I can load the ESPN+ app via my laptop, tablet or phone and on my smart tv's I can even load it by going through the TV (bypassing Xfinity) so it's not my ESPN account or my internet - it has something do do with Xfinity and how it's loading this app.   Note that we have many other apps such as Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime among others and they all load fine from the tv's when ESPN does not load.

Can you please assist so we can get this resolved?

Thank you for reaching out @user_505af5 I am sorry to hear the app will not load for you. I know my wife would be upset if she couldn't watch her sports as we also have the ESPN app. Have you rebooted your modem and box since this issue started?

You guys are not offering solutions but asking the same questions. Yes rebooting the box is not working this happens occasionally with paramount plus too

I’m having the same issue with ESPN+ through an X1 box. I just swapped out the box and the issue remains with the APPS-04036 error.

Same issue as all the other users have pointed out. For the past two years I’ve been able to access the espn app through my xfinity TV box. Over the past few weeks I have not been able to. Doesn’t matter how many time I restart my TV box. All other apps work just fine. Not this one. It would be nice if Xfinity would address this issue

I have had the same problem for several days. I want to use the ESPN  app that I can access as an Xfinity App in order to watch an ESPN+ streamed sports event.  I pay Xfinity for the Sports package that includes ESPN and I pay ESPN extra for an ESPN+ subscription.

When I try to run the ESPN  app through Xfinity I get the error message, “Sorry, we’re having trouble with this App.  Try restarting your TV Box Then open the app again.  If you’re still having issues give it some time and try again later.  Error Code APPS-04036.”

This has been going on for days.  I’ve reset the TV Box several times.  I’ve called Comcast/Xfinity and several times have patiently gone through the process of complying with their standard automated voice instructions for resetting the box and then finally after much frustration being able to talk to an agent and having them run diagnostics on my box, resetting the box remotely, all to no avail.

I have an ESPN+ subscription and I can watch ESPN+ on my iPhone and broadcast it from there to my Smart TV through an Apple TV Box. 

I might be able to fix this if I could uninstall the ESPN app from the Xfinity Apps menu and then reinstalling it.  Does anyone know how to do that?

Ongoing for weeks. It's really frustrating to purchase fights through espn+ only to not be able to watch them on my TV. How many weeks to acknowledge the problem? How many weeks after acknowledging the problem to resolution?

I can’t access ESPN through the ESPN app, but can via the Disney+ app. This is pain to go from finding the sport event in the Guide, then having to open Disney+ to get it.

It works sometimes, but goes very slow, but recently I've been getting a message saying it's not working right now and to try again later error code AYYS-04036. The app works fine on my laptop and phone, just not my Xfinity cable. It used to work all the time, but now it usually gives that message. I was told by support to update my Xfinity box.

Thank you for letting us know. I see it has been working sometimes, but it doesn't work on other days. I understand how this would be a headache when attempting to watch the content you love. Now, you're getting an error code which was not present before. Have you tried to clear the locally stored data on the box? I've seen this work on instances like this and for other apps.
