Disney+ App hangs during commercial breaks

Hey all,

Recently resubscribed to Disney+ and it works like well, [Edited: "Language"], via the Xfinity App. It tends to hang during the commercial breaks. Inevitably have to exit the App, restart and hope the commercial break completes. Anyone else have the same issue?

@user_pw7tac either go into settings and change Data to a slower rate or drop Disney.

@user_pw7tac see if you can exchange your cable box for a newer model, it's been reported this fixes the issue. I haven't had the chance to exchange mine yet due to flu, but changing the data speed as others have advised didn't work for me.

DeaconBlue, Thanks for sharing your experience. That's really helpful for others. Hope you're feeling better soon. While swapping the cable box for a newer model may resolve this issue, it is not a guarantee. And you’re right: changing the data speed doesn’t seem to fix it consistently for everyone. Once you’re feeling better, I can check on this for you and even have one shipped if needed. To further assist, please feel free to send us a direct message with your first/last name and full address. You can start by clicking the "direct message" icon in the upper right page of our forum page. Once you click on that, input our shared handle Xfinity Support to send us a direct message.

Having the issue with Disney+ freezing during commercials while accessing through Comcast/Xfinity. Is there a resolution besides paying more money?

Hello @user_pmatob and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community forums!

It can definitely be frustrating to have that happen when you're watching something and having issues while streaming content!

There are several things you could try.  These are some of the most common fixes for Disney Plus freezing during the commercial breaks.

1) If you are watching Disney Plus on a Xfinity supplied piece of equipment, you can try going into Settings followed by App Settings, and then Data Usage - change the setting from Automatic to 'Moderate' or 'Save-Data'

2) Restart or Power Cycle the device - You would want to remove power for at least a full minute.

3) You can navigate to the Xfinity menu, select Settings, then Privacy, and Clear Cookies and Local Storage Data.

If you are not using one of our devices, there are similar settings for the app on third party devices.

Please give these a try and if your issue persists, let us know.  We're here to help address your concerns! 😀
