Can't rename new iPhones in connection list

Just got new iPhones for my family over the holidays, and when I view the list of connected devices on my network via internet.xfinity.com, the new phones just show "iPhone 13's iPhone 13" instead of a useful name like "Joe's iPhone 13." Unlike other devices, there's no way to edit the names. I've tried forgetting and readding, and that didn't seem to help. Any thoughts? Thanks!

@hawkins_b Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out on Xfinity Forums! I hope you had a great holiday! If everyone in your home has a profile already set up on the Xfinity app, you should be able to both edit the name when you select the pencil icon by the device in question and then assign it to a specific profile so you know which device is which. I can totally understand how not being able to change the name of the device would be frustrating, and I hope this helps! -Abbie

@XfinityAbbie That's the problem... With these new phones, there is no "Edit" link next to the device name to rename it. See the two images attached for the difference -- one with the Edit link, the other without.

@hawkins_b I completely understand where you are coming from. Even though you are not able to change the name of the device, there is a way to tell them apart. You can go into the settings of each device and pull the MAC ID from each one and then compare that to what is showing up through the Xfinity app under device details. You can then assign that device to the correct user profile. I have several devices connected to my network. That is how I labeled mine.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityRobertA Your solution is what I've been using. But I'm just wondering why you can name some devices and not others...

@hawkins_b, it sounds like xFi is just picking up what the device is showing as. Can you try these steps to see if it fixes it?

1. Shut off WiFi on Iphone.

2. Go to Settings, General, About, Name, and rename it

3. Connect again to the WiFi

It should update in xFi after doing that.

@XfinityNicolas Nope. Your steps didn't change anything. Forgetting the device in xFi and reconnecting didn't do anything either. :(
