5G channels

Hi

How can I change my 5g wifi channel since I don't have full access trough 10.0.0.1 (can't switch to manuall)?

My laptop only recognize 5g on specific channels so i'm stuck with 2.4g and 144 mbps, paying for 1000mbs, which is pointless... Thanks

Can't do any of that. Like i said, can't change to manually from 10.0.0.1. All there is 'grey' and i couldn't change nothing. As for xFi there's no option of changich 5g channels.

//That's what i found on 10.0.0.1:

Wi-Fi Mode, Security Mode, Channel Selection, Channel Mode, and Channel Bandwidth are being managed automatically to help optimize your home Wi-Fi network and improve Wi-Fi coverage. To edit your Wi-Fi Network Name & Network password, please download the Xfinity xFi app or visit xfinity.com/myxfi.

and on xFi:

If you don't see the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi settings (WiFi Mode, Channel Selection, and Channel Mode) in Advanced Settings, this means these settings are now being managed automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible. Additionally, if you have xFi Pods, you won't see your 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi networks listed separately. Pods require that you only have one WiFi network name and password, so that all of your devices can seamlessly connect to the network that will provide the best WiFi signal at any given time.

So now there's no way i could change that???

You could try calling customer service and see if a rep can do it for you remotely. Good luck with it !

I just wanted to change my 5ghz channel as well. And the option is now gone. And has the same message as you. Seems they are trying to do what’s best for the customer automatically, but I think there is a lot of channel interference that the system isn’t recognizing. Kind of irritating because I had it on the perfect channel before that never had any interruptions.

Welcome to xfinity, where they think they know best about managing your network.

Good luck with this, i've been fighting it for 2 years.  You might have a small amount of luck if you can get to a level 2 or higher tech who actually knows what they are talking about...but might as well buy some Powerball tickets at the same time as the odds are probably better.

I too have seen this message.

As you will see.... this change to the NEW MODEM has slowed down your WIFI speed considerably.

My old modem was taken from me by the Tech when I pointed out that it was faster than the new upgrade.

He didn't want to discuss it.

My cabled connection has improved but the WiFi is SNAIL SPEED.
