Xr15 Remote not working
I’ve tried A + D then 981 followed by the xfinity button + I multiple times and nothing works. I have unplugged the box multiple times as well. This has been going on for days now.

Hello, @user_jvg! I understand how frustrating it is when your remote stops working, especially after trying all the standard troubleshooting steps. Since you've already tried the A + D, 981, and Xfinity + i button combinations, and power cycling the box, here are some additional steps and alternative solutions to try:
1. Check the Batteries (A Simple Step, But Crucial)
Even if the remote's light is blinking, the batteries may not have enough power to send a strong enough signal. Try replacing the batteries with a fresh pair.
2. Check for Obstructions and Line of Sight
Ensure there's a clear path between the remote and your TV box. While the XR15 is an RF remote and doesn't require direct line-of-sight for basic functions, some pairing or resetting processes may rely on an infrared (IR) signal. Make sure there's nothing blocking the front of the TV box.
3. Factory Reset and Re-pairing
You mentioned you've tried this, but it's worth re-confirming the exact steps, as a slight variation can make a difference.
Factory Reset:
- Press and hold the A (triangle) and D (diamond) buttons simultaneously for about three seconds until the status light on the remote changes from red to green.
- Press 9-8-1. The remote's light should blink blue three times to confirm the reset.
Re-Pairing:
- Make sure your TV and TV box are on, and the TV is on the correct input.
- Aim the remote at the TV box.
- Press and hold the Xfinity button and the i (info) button at the same time for about five seconds.
- The remote's light should change from red to green.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the pairing code that appears on your TV.
4. Try the "Voice Command" Pairing Method
If you're still having no luck with the button combinations, you can try using your voice.
- Aim the Voice Remote at your TV Box.
- Press the Microphone (Voice) button and say, "Program remote."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing.
5. Check the Remote's IR Sensor
You can use your smartphone's camera to check if the remote is emitting a signal.
- Open the camera app on your phone.
- Point the front of the XR15 remote at the camera lens.
- Press any button on the remote.
- You should see a flash or a continuous red light on your phone's screen. If you don't see anything, the remote's IR sensor may be faulty.
6. Consider the Possibility of a Faulty Remote
If none of the above steps work and you've been troubleshooting for days, it's possible the remote itself is defective. Remotes can stop working for various reasons, including hardware failure or a corrupted firmware.
Next Steps If Nothing Else Works:
- Let us know: Our Digital Care Team can provide more in-depth troubleshooting or perform a remote diagnostic. We can also help you arrange for a replacement remote to be shipped to you.
- Visit an Xfinity Store: For the quickest resolution, you can visit a nearby Xfinity store to pick up a new remote. They can also test your current remote in-store to confirm if it's faulty.
