XR15 remote gives error sound when pressing Voice button

When using the Voice button on my XR15 remote, if the remote hasn't been touched for 10 minutes or so, I receive the error beep indication and the Try Again message. I must then wait 5 seconds before pressing the Voice button a second time, and then it works correctly. I just had *all* my equipment replaced today, and was hoping that with the new equipment, this problem would be gone. But alas, the new equipment behaves exactly the same as the old equipment. There are two details that I can add. First, I confirmed that when the Voice button triggers the error beep, the blue light on the remote lights up normally.  Second, I have configured my remote to control an AV receiver for volume control instead of the TV. My TV is a Samsung; my AV receiver is a Yamaha. Any help would be appreciated.
