XiD-P box

The XiD-P box in my bedroom often takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to connect to the main unit in my living room. Also, it feels very hot to the touch. I have re-booted the unit by powering it down and then up numerous times and that seems to help sometimes but not every time. Does this unit need to be replaced? The local Xfinity offices are all closed here in my area so I cannot consult with them about the problem. Thanks.

It could be either box, it could be interior wiring too. You could swap the box to eliminate a possibility

If you are rebooting it, it will take a while to completely boot up. Cable boxes will always feel hot to the touch, because they need to work hard to convert the channels from 1s and 0s to things you can see on a tv.
