xi5-p wireless box setup issue

Trying to setup my Xi5-p wireless boxes. They appear to initialize ok, but freeze on the 'select language screen'. The remote that comes with these boxes does not have a setup button  like my X1 remote, so not sure if it is properly paired. I have 4 of them and this is the first tv I'm trying to get to work. Tried initializing a different box, tried power cycling, tried replacing remote batteries, all with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

you probably have the xr15 remote - press and hold the info and xfinity until the 3 digit code appears on the TV. then type in the 3 digit code.

Adding, you need to make sure the moca light on your gateway is on (its on the rear by the coax input). And you shouldn't have more than 2 or your internet may suffer (Xi5 uses the 5GHz band)

If I am not using a comcast gateway modem/router (using standalone modem amd separate router), do I need any MoCA adapters for any of the units (dvr, other tv boxes) . We recently upgraded to the X1 Starter package from the non-X1 package with new equupment except new modem..

No, they will only work with the XB3/XB6 gateway

Yes only rentable not for retail sale. If you see them for sale somewhere, it’s equipment that was never returned, buyer beware

All X1 DVRs have cloud capability, all have a hard drive

The gateway is only rentable? I can't but one? Also, if I don't want a cloud DVR and just the normal one, do I still need the gateway?

How do I enter the manual setup mode instead of WPS on the Xi5?  I had it once but cannot locate it again.

My Xi5-P wireless cable box was installed within a marginal range to the Xfinity gateway and does not consistly work.  Can connect through a wifi mesh to the gateway?  If so, how to I reconfigure the Xi5-P to that network name?

The screen error message is RDK-03087 telling me that I have problem connecting to Wifi and advising me to move the box closer to the gateway.  This is not physically in my case as puts in a spot is not usable.

If I cannot, I will to schedule the Comcast tech and have him install a cable (which probably should have been done the first time).

Thank you for your help,

Terrible! This limits the options I would have otherwise using my own router. I found Comcast's gateway to be very limiting and not very reliable. On top of this the equipment has to be leased.

How can it be nickel and dining if you’d pay the same thing for a wired box. You can use the Stream app via a Roku instead or you can get it swapped out for a different box anytime.

I just signed up for comcast tv. Got the xi5-p wirless boxes. No one informed that these boxes only work with a comcast gateway, even though they new I had my own cable modem. Nor did they even try to rent me a gateway. So now I can only watch one tv out of three.

The is just another way for comcast/xfinity to nickle and dime their costomers. This is why I stayed away from comcast for many year.  Now I'm thinking of concealing and going back to Dish.

Its nickle and diming me because I cannot use a wired box. Thats why I specifically stated that I needed the wireless boxes when I order this. Come to find out the person taking the order has no way of designating a wired or wireless box. That why the first trip to your store they gave be a wired box. So I had to make another 15 mile trip one way to get the wireless boxes. Now I find out that I have to have your gateway. Another 30 mile round trip and another 13 dollars on my monthly bill. So now the deal that I'm getting is no better than the deal I had with Dish and just using comcast for internet. Xfinity/comcast is just trying to bulid an ecosystem like Apple, where you have to get everyting from them.

since you have a TV cable subscription, you can use a Roku that is currently free to use. then you won't even have the extra set top box charge. that's like refunding the nickles and dimes.

turkey12, thanks for taking the time to post on the forums and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. We don't want you making unnecessary trips to the service center so I'd be happy to send you a modem so you are able to connect and view the content on your new xi5 boxes! I'd hate to lose you as a customer so please send me a private message with your full name so I can help make this right.

Thanks for the offer, but I did'nt want to wait a couple of day to receive the gateway. I have already went and picked up a gateway and installed it. All is working, but not happy about having to rent the gateway.
