XG1V4 requires reboot every day (another person suffering)
Still there are people with this problem like me who have tried everything on these forums to no avail.
https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/X1/XG1v4-requires-reboot-everyday/td-p/3134460 said some people got it fixed finally when there was an outage in their area. Can I get an outage in my area please? Lol.
Tried every TV or XG1V4 settings like CEC, Power save, Simplink, etc. Tried multiple boxes, ports, and cables. Tried running things through a receiver and not.
This doesn't happen every time, but it's every couple of days at best. More often when I was previously watching Netflix, but that may be a correlation and not causation.
One of my TVs is worse than the other, but I can't say it has NEVER happened on my second TV, cause it has happened.
Wasn't a problem until I got "upgraded" to the XG1V4 box about a year ago.
PLEASE help! There are still those of us out here struggling.

I fear that all they will do is say there is a problem with the box and give me a new one. That's all they ever say they can do in the past and it doesn't fix anything. I do appreciate you trying to help. 😃
I've just had enough boxes, cables, techs, new settings to try and none of it makes a difference. It happens infrequently enough that I can't reproduce it on command. As annoying as it is I will just keep unplugging the HDMI cord and plugging it back in when it happens.
I can't wait till they come out with a new box for all of us and it just doesn't have this problem.

That is interesting. Thanks for your reply.
I do wonder why unplugging the HDMI and plugging it back in would fix it, though, if it is a bandwidth issue from Comcast.
I looked a bit for any setting that was like the one you describe on my LG tv, but I really only see the CEC and power save settings (which I have already flipped around in every way I can think of).

I was one of those on the original thread. Tried everything. One day, it all started working fine at 2160@60Hz. Then it stopped. I downgraded to 1080p@60Hz, and it worked.
Now that's stopped.
Here's the problem--
My TV (and most others, I assume) have two modes for HDMI, 1 & 2. I was on mode 2, which can allow for bandwidth for 2160@60Hz. Mode 1 only supports up to 2160@30Hz.
If I switch to Mode 1, everything works--but not 2160@60Hz, which it doesn't support.
Why is it random? Because at certain times, the X1 box isn't getting enough bandwidth from Xfinity itself to support speeds for Mode 2, which defaults to 2160@60Hz. Not signal strength, but bandwidth itself. Restarting the box or the TV does nothing.
Nothing the box or the TV can do if the system itself is not pumping out enough data.
So now I leave it on mode 1, 1080p@60Hz, and all is good. I could go to 2160@30Hz, but for live events like sports and news it's blurry and gives a film-like picture. Not good enough.

It could very well be that. Even if I could go down to 1080 and not have the problem I wouldn't. I have all this great equipment and I pay Comcast, Netflix, Prime, etc. a lot of money every month to be able to get 4k content. Gah! I need to not think about it or it makes me sad. =(

Looks likek th best I can get right now is 2160@30Hz, which is ok for movies but horrible for sports.

I guess its worth a try on the 30hz. Football is in the offseason right now so I don't watch as many sports haha. And when I do it is on the other TV that tends to have this problem less frequently.

Tv handles hdmi 2 provided by Roku fine at 2160@60hz. It's the x1 box that doesn't.

Basically, all you can really hope for as a permanent fix is a firmware update for your TV that addresses HDMI issues in general.

Two different ports. I switch from mode 1 to mode 2 on the tv for the Roku and it's fine.

In my situation, there have been multiple HDMI ports tried. With cords swapped between them. HDMI1 works for my computer every time no matter what. With the X1, HDMI1 is a problem sometimes. Same thing with HDMI2.
