xg1v4 fan noise

Just upgraded to XG1V4 and had fan noise that has previously bugged other users.  I fixed mine and would like to provide two suggestions for anyone else who runs into this problem:

unplug and hard vacuum over the top of the whole box using no attachment.  If that does not work:

Drop the device 4 times flush onto a hard surface from 4-6 inches to re-seat the fan blade which may have moved slightly during shipment.

The dropping worked on mine

Hello, @StewPod, thank you for letting us know you were also experiencing issues with the fans making noise. We do not recommend dropping the box as it could exacerbate the issue. If the boxes make noise from the fans, please let us know and we will replace them with no issue either at a local store or via shipment. If the fans ever start to act up due to dust on the fans we recommend using compressed air.

@XfinityNicki Of course you can't recommend dropping the box, but the impact from 4-6" flush is no greater (probably greatly less) that the forces it experiences in its travels.  "Letting you know" seems easy but requires a great deal more effort and time, and others have experienced needing multiple exchanges to fix the problem or it doesn't fix it they just give up.  Try testing your equipment prior to delivery.

Thanks for the feedback, we will do a better job at testing the equipment before distributing it to our customers. Let us know if you'd like some new equipment sent out or if you'd like to expedite the shipping process you can always pick up new equipment at your local Xfinity service center (https://comca.st/3FYxarU).

I no longer work for Comcast.
