Xfinity xr15 remote will not pair with TCL Fire TV MODEL 75Q691F

I have been trying to pair my new TCL Fire tv with the xfinity xr15 remote. I van get voice controls, channel up/down and guide to work but can’t get volume and power to work. Have done a full reset to remote, actually got a new remote from xfinity and I can’t find a code that will work. Any help out there would be appreciated

I was experiencing the same thing and came across this thread while trying to pair. I finally found the solution, which was to pair as Amazon-Fire TV, rather than TCL or using TCL codes. 

Pairing Steps for TCL 75Q691F /w Xfinity remote:

  • Navigate to the remote pairing menu
    • [Voice Input]: "Remote pairing"
      - OR -
    • [Manual Navigation]:
      • Press Xfinity Button
      • Select settings/gear icon
      • Select Remote Settings
      • Select Voice remote pairing
  • Select Yes, when asked to use remote to control TV power and volume
  • Search/navigate and Amazon-Fire TV
    • This was what hung me up
  • Select OK when Ready to pair
  • Verify volume works with remote
  • Select It works!

I just found this post. I was having the same problem with my new TCL Smart Fire tv. I just assumed I would need to select TCL tv. It did not work. I have never had a problem pairing remotes with other brands of tv. Of course it would not work. Tried new remote first. No fix. Then chatted with a live Xfinity agent. Not able to get it paired. Said I needed a new box. Got a new box this morning and still would not pair. I then find this solution on the forum, and thought I would try it. IT WORKED!!!!!!! You would think Xfinity would know to tell us to select Amazon Fire TV. Just glad I found this and it worked!

I had the same problem and got it to work for Power and Volume, but NOT for TV Input. Anyone tried a code that actually does all??

The above post said to choose Amazon Fire TV and NOT TCL.  That worked for me...remote is completely paired now.

that is what I did (Amazon Fire TV} and the x1 remote works for volume power and channel etc. But when I press the 'input' to switch to the Roku HDMI input nothing happens. Likewise when trying to switch back to the Xfinity box, nothing.  I have to use the TV's remote.
