XFinity Remote gives Error Sound when pressing Voice button first time

If I haven't used the remote in 5 minutes or more, then the next time I press the Voice button, an error beep sound is generated.  If I then wait another 5 seconds, the Voice button will work perfectly.  This only happens with the main DVR box; it never happens with the satellite box in the other room.

Also, if I take the remote from the other (satellite) room where the Voice button works perfectly all the time, and go into the room with the main DVR box, this other remote will also generate the Error Sound the first time it is pressed.  So the problem cannot be related to the remote control, it must be related to the DVR box.

I believe it may be the case that pressing some other button on the remote first avoids this issue with the voice button; however, I'm not 100% sure of this and will test this theory further.

This post is essentially a repeat of https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/x1/xr15-remote-gives-error-sound-when-pressing-voice-button/602db103c5375f08cd41d7f1.  I am posting the issue again to see if anyone has found a solution or can suggest a new solution.

Is there a firmware update that fixes this problem?  Will an upgrade to XG1v4 fix this problem?

Did you try unplugging the DVR box and plugging it back in? New batteries? You could also try;

Factory Reset the Xfinity Voice Remote without a Setup Button (XR15)
  1. Press and hold the A (triangle) and D (diamond) buttons at the same time for three seconds until the status light changes from red to green.
  2. Press 9-8-1.
  3. The LED will blink blue three times to indicate that the remote was reset.
Factory Reset the Xfinity Voice Remote with a Setup Button (XR11)
  1. Press the Setup button until the LED at the top of the remote changes from red to green.
  2. Press 9-8-1.
  3. The LED will blink green twice to indicate that the remote was reset.

I have seen that sometimes. I think it's just because the 2-way connection between the remote and cable box has gone to sleep. It seems to take a few seconds to fully re-establish and authorize certain actions. There was a bug discovered several months ago that made it possible for somebody to listen on the data going between them or something like that, and the error issue may be a side-effect of verifying the remote's identity.
