Xfinity DVR: How to schedule NFL Football to record?

I'm new to the Xfinity DVR having spent decades using TiVo. I used to have a TiVo Wishlist to schedule all recordings on any channel with the keywords "NFL Football" and "NFL Preseason Football" and every program with those keywords in the name or description would be recorded.

I cannot figure out how to do this with the Xfinity DVR scheduling feature. I am only offered the option of selecting each individual team and saying to record all games for that team. There must be a better way!

Please let me know how!  :-)

Hi @Ladd2, I hope the day has been treating you well!

While the Xfinity DVR doesn't offer the exact functionality of TiVo's Wishlist, manually setting series recordings should help you capture most of the games you want to watch. Xfinity's primary method for recording sports involves selecting individual teams or leagues. When setting a recording, you can choose "All future episodes." Then you can adjust your preferences to record only new episodes or new and repeat episodes.

Thank you for your reply.

You have indicated that Xfinity's method is for "teams or leagues". I have found that I can certainly search for, find and set a recording series for each individual team.  That's a lot of teams.

I have NOT found a way to set up a recording series for a league as the search function does not show me league results by searching for "NFL". Only individual NFL teams, which takes me back to having to set up a recording series for each individual team.

I am more than willing to admit that I am most likely doing something that is not helping. Please offer advice on how to get league results for a search for  "NFL".

Ladd2 this article can help us. There's more than one way to launch the X1 Sports Zone app using your service.  If you hit the C button on your remote you can search for games by league on the top right corner of the screen. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-sports-app-watch-games

Thank you for that information. I had not explored the Sports App, nor did I remember that it existed.

Having said that, while the Sports App/NFL does give me quick access to upcoming games, I see no way to simply request "record all NFL games, regardless of team".

This would seem to be such a simple request that I'm sure I'm missing something!  :-)

@Ladd2 Here's: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-dvr-overview an excellent article that may help with setting up the recordings.

Thank you for the link to that article; it is a good overview of how to use the X1 and it is welcome.

Having said that, it does not address my specific question: How to set up a schedule to record all NFL games  available in my location. It is not satisfactory to have to every week remember to view and select from a list of 32 teams to record the ones I'm interested in.

I appreciate you taking the time to suss out an answer for me.

Going forward, I’m going to consider this a “it can’t be done” and is a small, annoying, first world problem.

Again, thanks for your help.
