Xfinity 4k - XG1v4 Cable Box Availability

Called Xfinity and asked about the availability of XG1v4 cable boxes at my location (WA state), which has the capability to stream 4k content through Netflix.  Was assured, with repeated confirmations, that they were available to the local service store, would just have to bring in my existing cable box and exchange it.  Bought a nice LG OLED TV, upgraded my Netflix account to receive Ultra HD, and took my box down to the local service center for exchange, per customer service direction.  You can probably guess what happened next - "sorry, we don't have any 4k boxes, don't know when we will".  Anyone else been misled by the Xfinity garbage customer service?  Went online to see what lies they convey on their website regarding this matter, and found this:  https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/uhd-4k-faqs/   More misleading BS.  Wanted to warn anyone else potentially in the same situation as myself not to believe anything you are told or read about the availability of XG1v4 boxes; go to your service center first to confirm.

Hi,

Is there any possible way Comcast/Xinfity could ship me the new XG1v4 4K DVR and I could ship back my old HD DVR?  Customer support said I have to drive an hour away to get one from my nearest Comcast service center/store.  That is a 2 hour round trip!

toslink optical out is old outdated technology. the audio now is carried on the HDMI cable and has many more advanced features available.

If your TV has an optical out it really shouldn't matter. Just run the HDMI cable to the TV and then out on optical

Hello all,

If you would like to get an X1 4K DVR box - please send me a private message with your full name, address, and a phone or account number. If you get any issues with the private messaging try to post a message (do NOT post any private information publicly) in this thread first and then send me a private message (click on my name ComcastElla, then click Private Message Me).

Thank you!

Hi, I have a an XG1-a X1/DVR TV box, plus gigabit internet, a 4k smartTV, and am a Netflix UHD subsriber. While I'm aware that 4k cable/broadcast programming is not yet available, but I have read here that 4k X1 boxes are available. As I can't find a way to request a 4k TV box via the Xfinity web interface, is this something I have to request directly? Also, I noticed an eSATA connection on my current box, does this mean I can add an external HDD so to incease my DVR compacity? With that, were I to obtain a 4k unit, would it have DVR capability and the ability to connect an external HDD to it?

Follow directions just above your post.

The only way to have extra storage for the X1 platform is to rent additional DVRs.

When I try to reconnect my Corwin E7 bluetooth headphones it completely crashes my box. This wasn't the case until a few days ago. A work around is to completely remove the headphones then re-add them.

Anyone else seen this?

I want to try the XG1v4-

1. Is a Comcast provided MODEM required in order to utilize the XG1v4 ?

2. Are the tv channels delivered via COAX signal or Network/Internet/IP ?

3. I currently have 3x cablecard PC tuners. Can I ADD the XG1v4 and keep the cablecard tuners?

I have Comcast internet but just curious as to why the xg1v4 requires internet if signal is delivered by coax?

P.S. I would love it if there was a picture upgrade somehow . I have an LG Oled 4k and the local channels look better on my attic antenna than the box.
