Xfinity 4k - XG1v4 Cable Box Availability

Called Xfinity and asked about the availability of XG1v4 cable boxes at my location (WA state), which has the capability to stream 4k content through Netflix.  Was assured, with repeated confirmations, that they were available to the local service store, would just have to bring in my existing cable box and exchange it.  Bought a nice LG OLED TV, upgraded my Netflix account to receive Ultra HD, and took my box down to the local service center for exchange, per customer service direction.  You can probably guess what happened next - "sorry, we don't have any 4k boxes, don't know when we will".  Anyone else been misled by the Xfinity garbage customer service?  Went online to see what lies they convey on their website regarding this matter, and found this:  https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/uhd-4k-faqs/   More misleading BS.  Wanted to warn anyone else potentially in the same situation as myself not to believe anything you are told or read about the availability of XG1v4 boxes; go to your service center first to confirm.

I would like to replace an XiD box with a 4K box.  I have several questions:

1.  Can I order an Xi6 box with a tech install (since self install is not available)?

2.  Can the Xi6 be remote from XB6 Gaetway?  I want to locate it on a different floor from the Gateway.  I have strong wifi at the location via a hardwired acess point.  Will that work.

3.  If the Xi6 won't work can I get another 4K DVR to directly replace the XiD?  I don't want to do this if it will increase my monthly bill.  I would want to do direct swap with no montly bill increase.

Want to add a 4K outlet if possible Xi6 or 4K DVR without cost impact

Thanks

adding... does your access point provide 5gb band wifi? the throughput of the connection has to be pretty high. have ethernet available to link the xi6 to the gateway?

the xg1v4 HD/UHD DVR is available via private message on this thread (read back a few posts). the only 4k companion is currently wifi where a special comcast gateway/modem is needed to operate and is currently only available with a paid professional installation. so far there is no xi3/xid non-wireless equivalent available that uses only coax connectors.

you can get that by dropping into your local Xfinity Store (it is not x1 equipment).

I have a XR11 remote.  Today I got an e-mail saying Amazon Prime Video now avalible on Xfinity X1, just say Amazon prime video into the remote with the mic button pressed.  I did that and a message popped up saying my current hardware doesn't support that but if I wanted, a new box will be sent to me.  I chose that option and now a new box is on it's way.  No PM, no phone calls, just from my current X1 box and speaker remote.

I guess my PM feature is still disabled.  Not sure how long it takes to be vetted so I can PM, so I'll just ask here;

Does this box use wifi?  Is an ethernet connection required to utilize 4K?  I ask because my TV set has Netflix app and wifi and I am not required to have an ethernet connection to view 4K programming.

If I understand right, this box doesn't have wifi and therefore mandates an ethernet connection for 4K programs.  What other features are required to have Ethernet?

I have the Xfinity Gateway XB3 box and it's located on the first floor of my house.  My TV and the new X1 box on the 2nd floor with no Ethernet cable between the two.  It wouldn't be feasable to run an ethernet cable all the way from where the router is to the TV and cable box and the cable box can't be relocated up to the 2nd floor because there's not cable from Xfinity running to the second floor.

If wifi isn't possible with this X1 box, is there another product that does all these features and does have wifi?  If not, will there be one in the future?

If ethernet is required, what cable is required; CAT5, CAT7?

Can I use one of these configured as a client and thereby connect to the box's ethernet with it to gain wifi to the router?

Just an observation, who does hard wired ethernet these days anyways?

Skipro3, the answers to your questions
-this DVR (and all DVRs) use a live coax cable connection
-no,an Ethernet connection is not required for 4K (but a Netflix 4K subscription is, and the Amazon Prime subscription, it’s the only 4K content)

What is the Ethernet connection for then?  What is it's purpose?

I was e-mailed that Amazon Prime has 4K content that now is usable with this box.

I was told Prime Video is delivered over the Xfinity Internet service to an X1 TV box, that an internet service plan was required.  Will I need the Ethernet connection for viewing Amazon Prime Video in 4K?

You are saying only Netflix is 4K?

Also, what about youtube 4K?

What about OnDemand Winter Olympics 4K?
