X16 remote heating up with replaced batteries

We have replaced the batteries with new AA Duracell and the remote starts to heat up and doesn't turn on at all. Not sure what other steps to take. Please help.

The concern is not "Home Security Devices And Equipment" help related........... Topic moved here to the proper help section.

user_cxy6yn Thanks for reaching out! I would recommend resetting the XR16 Remote to the factory settings.

*Press and hold the Info (i) and Home (house) buttons at the same time for five seconds until the status light blinks.
*Press Power, then Last (back arrow), and then Volume Down (-) on your remote in sequence.
*The LED will blink blue three times to indicate that the remote was reset

The factory reset unpairs your remote and TV Box, so you'll need to re-pair them. (The TV Box needs to be activated prior to re-pairing.) See instructions for pairing your Xfinity Remote and TV Box.

The other option would be to replace the remote. You can pick up a new one at any Xfinity Store, or we can send one out to you.
