X1 Signs of the box failing?
I've had my X1 box for at least 10 years and recently I have noted these issues and wondered if they are signs that it's beginning to fail;
- When there is a power surge from home HVAC unit, intermittently the box crashes and may require a full 5-minute reboot
- The skip commercials provided for broadcast tv shows is not accurate. After FFing, commercials now last for a minute afterwards
- When you select a recorded program from the list, there's a 3-5 second delay which occurs before the show's detail screen pops up.
- These issues also occur on the Hopper

What I would do is swap out the equipment at a nearby service center. Once you do this, let us know if that fixes any issues you may be experiencing with your Xfinity service.
Also, do you know if there are any splitters or amplifiers in your home or on the outside? Thank you for taking the time to talk with us and posting here on our Xfinity Community forums! I look forward to helping out!

The skip commercials is issue is a Comcast issue and is well documented here with no solution.
I also am having the 3 to 5 second delay selecting a DVR Recording. This started a few weeks ago.
The power surge, I am not having that issue. However, if the box is loosing power due to the a power surge than that is normal behavior. Try a different outlet maybe.
