X1 programming YAMAHA ts 7850 (and vizio tv) using XR15

hi!

 

I found the right codes for both my YAmaha and VIZIO TV.  turns on and off, all good.  BUT i cant control the audio unless i open my cabinet and point the remote at the YAMAHA. the Point anywhere doesnt work, only for on and off

HELP!!!

the Xfinity RF pairing (what you are speaking of) is for communication of the remote with the X1 set top box. all others communication is via IR which is line of sight. you can install an IR blaster to get the signal from ouside the cabinet to the device inside the cabinet.

No...I had a previous Yamaha and it worked fine. New one...I should be able to control tv sound and I can't unless pointing at receiver

the xfinity voice remotes use RF pairing for set top box control. The function of controlling TV or soundbar or receiver volume is only by the line-of-sight IR(infra-red LED emitter). light won't penetrate a wooden cabinet door. Many products are available that will copy IR signals from line of sight and repeat them to a cabinet or separate location (IR Blaster technology).
