X1 Intermittent Sound Cut Out Skipping Audio Issue
Hi everyone- I try to search diligently prior to posting a duplicate answer, so pls forgive my post if my same solution has already been shared- I tried looking everywhere and didn’t see it.
Anyhow, for the last five days, my sound has been cutting out on my new box that I received and it finally drove me insane 🤪
I’ve tried to reset the box via the app as well as unplugging the power source from the box and tv & a factory reset. Per the guidance from previous posts, it was suggested to change the audio from the HDMI audio output auto detect to the SAP audio language reset. Nothing worked.
HOWEVER what DID????
Changing the video display output resolution from 16:9, 1080p HD to 16:9, 1080i HD.
I tested this theory and switched back to the 1080p and it started skipping again. Switched it to i and it stopped.
Voila!
Hope this same solution works for you guys!
I hope you and your families are all safe and healthy!
God bless! 🙏🏼

user voice remote and use command "about". what is the rest of the line to the right of "STB Version.."?
changing to 1080i for a flat screen TV is not a good solution.

Did you have to reboot the system when you changed it to 1080i?

no, but 1080i is the worst resolution for flat screen TVs (they are not CRT devices).

Hi! what worked for me was press the Xfinity button, go to settings, go to device settings, go to audio, go to HDMI audio output go from audio detect to stereo and that fixed it!

Omg! This actually worked. I went to Comcast settings and updated to the 1080i. It immediately fixed the issue. It was almost unwatchable before. Thank you!

This worked for me as well. Video and audio was constantly acting up particularly on the OTA channels. As mentioned in earlier post, this might not be the optimal fix but at least it works until a better solution comes along.

Yes, I'm having intermittent audio dropouts (3-5 seconds at a time) on both my main X1 box and the Wi-Fi box I have in the bedroom. It's happens frequently and I haven't found any pattern as far as channels go. It happens on many channels.

I found that if I switch to 1080i and then say no when it asks you to confirm that you want 1080i, it switches back to 1080p and the skipping stops. A bit cumbersome to do this every time I turn on the TV but it works until I find a permanent solution.
