X1 Intermittent Sound Cut Out Skipping Audio Issue

Hello! I am posting to hopefully help others in the same boat. I have been experiencing intermittent audio issues on my X1 DVR (not 4k). It would be so random and occur on live TV, on-demand as well as recorded shows, although it was usually worse during recorded shows and on-demand. Sometimes it would occur 6-10 times a minute. AARGH!! I checked the settings on my TV (Samsung 65" curved) as well as the Samsung soundbar and everything was set and connected just fine. Also, it only happens on this TV, not the two in the house connected to invidual HD boxes.

I did a ton or research and I FINALLY saw a suggestion in another post that immediately solved the issue: change the audio setting in the DVR to "Stereo" instead of the "Best Option" it auto-selects (Dolby 5.1 in my case.) As soon as I changed it, bam: no more glitchy audio. YAAAAY!

I hope this helps other people experiencing this extremely frustrating issue.

Thank you for the Stereo solution! As of now it is no longer cutting out & has not affected my audio experience more so than the annoyance of the sound cutting out.

Anyone with this problem should try to deal with ComcastKenF on this thread if he's still monitoring it.  He was helpful to me.

He's a Comcast employee.  He tried a few re-sets of my box and then eventually sent me the newest box version - that new box fixed all the problems.

Or call comcast and tell them to switch you out to the newest box.

Mine was actually already on stereo, I switched it to Dolby 5.1 and it worked. Samsung tv and Bose audio bar.

I was having issues with mine. For me the solution was an HDMI cable that supports ARC, as I was using the ARC in/out so the TV would control the sound bar. Now I have the great picture of the Samsung 4K TV with the better sound of the Samsung sound bar.

I have the same issue.  New boxes:

Remote (small) - release 105.1.1 Version PXD01ANI_3.12p8s1_PROD_sdy

Main (large) - release 106.1.1 Version PX022AN_3.12p6s1_PROD_sey

Audio starts to randomly blank, gets progressively worse, to the point it happens every 8-10 seconds.  Most notable in DVR playback. Changing audio type sometimes fixes temporarily, especially "expert" mode.

Full power reset always fixes for a while.  Sometimes just resetting remote box works there, sometimes have to also reset main box.

After reset, playing same recording or channel, audio is fine. (until it starts again, usually 2-3 days)

The Main (larger) box is the new dvr (Pace and Cisco XiD X1)  - a multi-tuner box with a memory card as storage medium   I only know it uses card-type media because my first one had a "please insert" error.  The smaller box gets it's signal from the larger.  Both are plain black with a blue LED bar on right side.

have you tried actually having a physical DVR in your home? you have 2 companion (non-DVR) boxes listed.

The memory card is for the buffer, not storage. You must have cloud dvr, neither of those is a physical dvr.

Not entirely sure why that even matters.  Audio issue happens with live tv or recorded programs.

The main point here is that a hard reset always fixes the audio issue.  This means the issue is internal to the box and software related.
