X1 HDMI lip sync and blank screen issues
I had know idea adding a soundbar to my system would uncover so many HDMI/ARC issues that I figured would have been ironed out by now. As soon as started using Arc, FOX channel in particular went way out of sync. I came to these forums and basically tried everything including different cables and setting combinations on the TV and X1. Many restarts of the TV and X1 later I found that going through the Soundbar pass through HDMI input was the only way I could fix sync.
But with pass through, I found the X1 box failed to handshake and display on TV after being turned off without a full restart of the X1 box.
The fix has been tricky, but I plugged in an HDMI switch between the soundbar and the X1 and blank screen problems are gone. Fingers crossed.
I don’t know why this extra connection fixes the issue but I thought I would put it here after seeing all the discussion about it on this forum.

when the device id changes that is connected to the HDMI and the tv has no record of that device, you get defaults. the TV has an audio menu that includes lip-sync. find it using the TV's remote control and adjust on a talking head major network like news or soap operas. the setting is normal and is kept by the TV for that device (that it sees connected to the HDMI port).

I think the problem is that in some cases connecting the X1 to the TV and passing audio back out the ARC hdmi causes a lag in audio. And in some other cases, connecting the X1 to the soundbar and then passing to the TV causes HDCP handshake problems. And others, that the soundbar isn't in the list of devices the remote has codes to control.
In the latter case it might be possible to use HDMI control (CEC) from the TV to the soundbar to control volume. I do that with a receiver where I could use the remote code instead but it is somewhat out of the line of sight from where I'd use the remote and it is easy to hit the TV. Enabling HDMI control lets me set the remote to control volume on the TV, which then controls the receiver via the HDMI connection.
