X1 DVR RECORDING RECORDS 12 HOURS, PLAYS BACK 8 HOURS

I have several 12 hr recordings of the Wimbledon Tennis match (no extensions, scheduled from early AM) but none will play pst 8 hrs. What is the fix for this X1 issue? I see cases that identified this from a year ago! And, yes, I can play past 8 hrs on my phone with the streaming App but this isn't useful.
