X1 Cloud DVR

Does the current DVR have an internal hard drive? If so, How many gigs?

How many gigs available on the cloud?

Is this DVR capable of handleing an external drive?

The internal hard drive is 500 GB, the cloud isn’t measured in space but time (60 hours). And no external hard drive access

There has to be a finite amount of server space you are alotted.

The issue then becomes, 60hrs. of what? SD, HD, UHD, 4K......

In todays world, with all the IoT's, you would at least need 1TB (2TB would be better)

I'm guessing you're getting 500GB of cloud storage

no it is hours. so no matter if HD/SD/mpeg2/mpeg4 it is 60 hours less what is scheduled for that day as older recordings fall off the cloud DVR.

This is what I was told about cloud service from a data center employee;

In this region, every cloud DVR user is alotted a block 256GB of cloud storage.

Which several companies like to refer to as '60hrs'  for the simfilication of the customer's understanding. It also helps to facilitate the ease of billing.

In general customers here get a standard 20hr cloud acct. (aprox. 84GB ) and for an extra $10 a month you get 40hrs. more of cloud storage.

This from customer service: "Currently, your X1 DVR can record approximately 150 total hours of HD and/or SD programming on the hard drive, and 60 hours of cloud DVR storage per X1 DVR"

And "On Demand programs cannot be recorded by the DVR and Some channels on X1 will only record programming in the cloud"

The above is for informational purposes only!

You can choose to believe or not!

: "Currently, your X1 DVR can record approximately 150 total hours of HD and/or SD programming on the hard drive, and 60 hours of cloud DVR storage per X1 DVR"
And "On Demand programs cannot be recorded by the DVR and Some channels on X1 will only record programming in the cloud"
________
150 hours is roughly true, depending on how the program was broadcasted.
60 hours is the LAST 60 hours of recordings, regardless of HD or SD
On Demand programs have never been able to be recorded, ever. Regardless of Legacy or X1 platform
Here is a great resource

Well, Well, Well, ........

According to Mr. 'A' at the "Xfinity Store" , WE ARE ALL WRONG!!!!

Quote: "....Nope, there is no hard drive in the DVR, It is all cloud. 20hrs. included and 150hrs. for an additional fee"  I said "The forums, chat, and online say different"

Mr. 'A' says " Well they're all wrong, ...... Just saying anything to get you to sign up, ...Sales dept."

WOW, and Comcast makes fun of AT&T

Nope! The so called 'Instant TV' is for customers with internet only service! i.e. Streaming TV

This is at the end of the article you linked:

"Restrictions apply. Xfinity Instant TV is only available in select areas. Offer currently available to Xfinity Internet-only customers. Requires an Xfinity-compatible cable modem or wireless gateway. Service allows for up to two simultaneous streams per account. May not be combined with other video services. Not all programming available in all areas. Using a mobile wireless network to download or use apps may incur data charges; check your wireless provider's rate plan for details."

I’m afraid it’s a yes! You’ve never stated anything about your personal services. Anything listed in this thread are DVR options for EVERYBODY not just you, I’m not sure why you can’t accept it. Your original question has been answered and this thread is now closed.
